The tablets AMERTIL active substance is cetirizine which is a second-generation antihistamine with strong and long lasting effect.It is a selective antagonist of the histamine H1. No affinity for cholinergic receptors and serotonin, and does not cross the blood-brain barrier, so devoid of adverse sedative properties. It prevents an allergic reaction in the early stage and also reduces the migration of eosinophilic cells and reduces release of mediators of the allergic late phase. Cetirizine, administered orally, is absorbed quickly and completely, reaching a maximum concentration in the blood after about 60 minutes. Food does not affect the amount of drug absorbed.In about 93% bound to plasma proteins. The half-life of cetirizine average adult is about 8, and in children about 7 hours.
