Boswellia (Shallaki / Indian Frankincense / Boswellia serrata ) has been mentioned as a painkiller since ancient Sanskrit texts thousands of years ago. The herb is recommended for the relief of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, gout, joint pain, muscle aches and back pain.
Researchers at the Jewish University of Jerusalem conducted a clinical trial in 2007 in which they observed that Boswellia had a healing effect on arthritis problems. Scientists from the Center for Biotechnology at Anamalai University in Chennai, India also gave a positive assessment of Boswellia in their study. The study proves that Boswellia maintains the body's normal resistance to inflammation and contributes to flexible joints.
