Homeopathic medicine
acidum alpha-ketoglutaric benefits:
Alpha-ketoglutaric acid (AKG) is a chemical compound that plays a vital role in many biological processes and metabolic pathways:
Structure
A short-chain fatty acid with two carboxyl groups, made up of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen
Function
An intermediate metabolite in the Krebs cycle, or tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, that's involved in energy metabolism, antioxidant defense, and signal transduction
Applications
Used in food, chemicals, agriculture, and medicine, and has potential applications in treating diseases like diabetes, obesity, and reproductive aging
Other uses
AKG may also help with athletic performance, liver disease, complications after surgery, and aging skin
Safety
AKG is possibly safe to take orally for up to three years and apply to the skin for up to eight weeks, but there isn't enough information to know if it's safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding
AKG is produced through chemical synthesis and biotechnological approaches.
Alpha-ketoglutaric acid (also known as 2-oxo-glutaric acid, 2-oxopentanedioic acid) has been found in all living organisms and is an important cellular low molecular mass metabolite.
