• The preparation contains ammonium bituminosulfonate, an active ingredient from the group of sulfonated shale oils, as the active ingredient. It is a drug used to treat inflammatory skin diseases.
• It is used for boils and festering melting processes.

• Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as discussed with your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
• The ointment is applied to the skin in a thick layer. The treated area is covered with a bandage. Dressings are changed daily or every other day.
• The duration of application should be a maximum of 3 - 5 days.

• Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
• Possible side effects:
  • Rare (1 to 10 people treated in 10,000)
    • Irritation of the skin with severe itching, burning and redness. With more concentrated preparations, slight irritation is common, but only in rare cases is it so severe that treatment has to be discontinued.
    • Contact allergy.
• If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

• Use together with other medicines
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
  • Ammonium bituminosulfonate can improve the solubility of other active ingredients and thereby increase their absorption into the skin. Precipitation can occur when acids and salts are added in higher concentrations.
  • The simultaneous, additional use of other ointments or creams can impair the effect of the preparation.

• The preparation must not be used
  • if you are allergic to ammonium bituminosulfonate and other sulfonated shale oil products or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
  • if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

• Since there is no sufficient scientific evidence on absorption when used externally in humans, the preparation must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

• Warnings and Precautions
  • Contact with eyes should be avoided.
  • Notice
    • If condoms are used in the genital or anal area at the same time, the excipients they contain can lead to a reduction in tear resistance and thus an impairment of the safety of condoms.

• Ability to drive and use machines
  • No interactions known.
