When used with other medicines

- Zinc decreases the absorption of antibiotics such as tetracyclines (e.g. doxycycline), ofloxacin or other quinolones (e.g. ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin). Because of the risk of reduced effectiveness against bacterial infections, an interval of at least 4 hours should be observed between the intake of zinc and tetracyclines or quinolones.
- D-penicillamine, dimercaptopropane sulfonic acid (DMPS), dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), or ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) may decrease zinc absorption or increase excretion.
- Zinc absorption can be reduced if zinc and phosphates, iron, copper and calcium salts are given at the same time.
- Zinc preparations can reduce the absorption and storage of iron when taken at the same time as iron.
- Zinc can affect the absorption of copper.
Contraindications :
-
The drug must not be used
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to zinc sulfate monohydrate or any of the other ingredients.
Pregnancy and lactation :

Patient Notes :
-
Particular caution in use is required
- if you suffer from peptic ulcers and acute kidney failure or severe kidney cell damage (renal parenchymal damage).
- if you use the medicine for a long time; if zinc is taken for a longer period of time, copper should be monitored in the laboratory as well as zinc.
