Apap Migraine action:

The drug is produced by three active substances. Apap Migrena contains acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol and caffeine. Paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid reduce fever and pain. Caffeine is a mild stimulant, and it also increases the effect of acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol. The drug is indicated for occasional use in the treatment of headache and migraine attacks with symptoms such as headache, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and disturbances in daily functioning – with or without aura. The drug can be used by people over 18 years of age.

Application:
Apap Migrena is a medicinal product indicated for the short-term treatment of headache and migraine attacks (its symptoms include: headache, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and disturbances in daily functioning) with or without aura. The medicine is for adults - over 18 years of age.

Additional information:
Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. It is recommended to protect from moisture and light. The medicine contains paracetamol. Do not take more than the recommended dose, as it may cause serious liver damage. Acetylsalicylic acid may cause bleeding - if unusual bleeding occurs, inform your doctor. You should consult your doctor before using the medicine if: you have not previously been diagnosed with migraine, because in such a case other potentially serious conditions related to the brain or nervous system should be ruled out before using the medicine; the migraine is so severe that you need to lie down in bed, or because of pain that is different from the migraines you usually have, the migraine headaches are accompanied by vomiting; you have headaches after a head injury or caused by a head injury, fatigue, coughing or a bent over position; the headaches are chronic (15 or more days a month for more than 3 months) or the headaches occurred for the first time after the age of 50; you have liver or kidney problems, are underweight, malnourished or regularly drink alcohol – it may be necessary to stop taking the medicine completely or reduce the amount of paracetamol you take; you have a severe infection, are seriously malnourished, are very underweight or chronically abuse alcohol, this may increase the risk of metabolic acidosis, which is manifested by, among others: deep, rapid, difficult breathing, feeling unwell (nausea, vomiting), loss of appetite. If these symptoms occur at the same time, contact your doctor immediately; you have a hereditary deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, which affects red blood cells – as a result, after eating certain types of food and taking other anti-inflammatory drugs (including acetylsalicylic acid), you may develop anemia, jaundice, an enlarged spleen or other diseases; you have ever had digestive system diseases such as stomach ulcers, bleeding from the digestive tract or black stools. If you have previously experienced stomach discomfort or heartburn after taking painkillers or anti-inflammatory drugs; have bleeding disorders or abnormal vaginal bleeding other than menstrual bleeding (e.g. abnormally heavy and prolonged menstrual bleeding); have recently undergone surgery (even minor ones such as dental surgery) or will undergo surgery within the next 7 days; have bronchial asthma, hay fever, nasal polyps, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or have symptoms suggesting an allergy (skin reactions, itching, hives); have gout, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, heart rhythm disorders, uncontrolled hypertension, kidney or liver problems; have problems with alcohol abuse; are currently taking other medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid or paracetamol, or are taking other medicines, as some medicines may interact with the ingredients of this medicine and cause side effects; are at risk of dehydration (e.g. due to vomiting, diarrhoea, before or after major surgery); are under 18 years of age (there is a possible link between acetylsalicylic acid given to children and adolescents and the development of Reye's syndrome, therefore it should not be given to children and adolescents under 18 years of age without a doctor's recommendation). As with other medicines used to treat headaches, using this medicine too often (for 10 days or more per month) to treat chronic headache (for 15 days or more per month) lasting longer than 3 months may make your headache or migraine worse. If you feel that this has happened to you, talk to your doctor. You should feel better after stopping the medicine. The medicine may reduce the severity of the symptoms of infection (e.g. headaches, fever), which may make it more difficult to diagnose - therefore, if you feel unwell, tell your doctor that you are taking this medicine. The medicine may affect the results of some laboratory tests, so if you are going to have a blood, urine or other laboratory test, remember to tell your doctor that you are taking this medicine. The medicine contains 0.24 mg of propylene glycol and 0.05 mg of benzoic acid in one tablet. Benzoic acid may increase the risk of jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes) in newborns (up to 4 weeks of age). Use with other medicines: this should be discussed with your doctor, this is especially important when using medicines such as: other medicines containing paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid or any other painkillers and antipyretics; Anticoagulants, e.g. oral anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin), heparin, thrombolytics (e.g. streptokinase), other antiplatelet agents (e.g. ticlopidine, cloprodogrel, cilostazol); corticosteroids (used to treat inflammation); barbiturates and benzodiazepines (used to treat anxiety and insomnia); lithium, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or fluvoxamine (used to treat depression); sulfonylurea or insulin (used to treat diabetes); methotrexate (used to treat certain types of cancer and arthritis); certain medicines to treat infections (e.g. rifampicin, isoniazid, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, pipemidic acid); levothyroxine (treatment of hypothyroidism); metoclopramide (treatment of nausea and vomiting); medicines to treat epilepsy; medicines for high blood pressure and heart failure; diuretics (used to increase urine production and relieve water retention); medicines to treat gout; oral contraceptives; zidovudine (treatment of HIV infection); medicines that delay stomach emptying e.g. propantheline; clozapine (treatment of schizophrenia); sympathomimetic medicines (increasing low blood pressure and treating nasal congestion); antiallergic medicines (prevention or treatment of allergies); theophylline (treatment of asthma); terbinafine (treatment of fungal infections); cimetidine (treatment of heartburn and peptic ulcers); disulfiram (treatment of alcohol addiction); nicotine (used to help stop smoking). cholestyramine (treatment of high blood cholesterol levels); flucloxacillin (antibiotic), due to the serious risk of a disorder affecting the blood and body fluids (high anion gap metabolic acidosis), which must be treated urgently and which may occur mainly in people with severe renal impairment, sepsis, malnutrition, chronic alcoholism, as well as in patients taking the maximum daily doses of paracetamol. Use with food and drink: ask your doctor whether you can take this medicine or other painkillers and antipyretics when consuming 3 or more alcoholic beverages a day. Paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid can cause liver damage and stomach bleeding. Due to the caffeine content (in the recommended dose of the drug, the caffeine content is equivalent to about one cup of coffee), while using the drug, you should limit the consumption of medicines, food or drinks containing caffeine, too much of it can cause nervousness, irritability, insomnia and in some cases also an increased heart rate. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult your doctor, but the use of this medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and is contraindicated in the third trimester. Do not use the medicine during breastfeeding, as it may be dangerous for the infant. The medicine may impair fertility, this effect disappears after discontinuation of the preparation.
