For treating flea and / or tick infestations in small dogs.

Active ingredients

  • 67 mg of fipronil

Auxiliary materials

  • Butyl hydroxyanisole
  • Butylated hydroxytoluene

Areas of application:
Treatment of flea (Ctenocephalides spp.) And tick infestations (Dermacentor reticulatus). The insecticidal effectiveness against a renewed infestation with fleas lasts for up to 8 weeks. The veterinary medicinal product has a persistent acaricidal effect against ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor reticulatus) for up to 4 weeks.

With certain types of ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Ixodes ricinus), not all ticks may be killed within the first 48 hours, but only within a week. The veterinary medicinal product can be used as part of a treatment regimen to control flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).

Contraindications:
Due to a lack of data, it is recommended not to use the product in puppies younger than 2 months and / or less than 2 kg in weight. Do not use on sick (e.g. systemic diseases, fever, ..) or recovered animals. Do not use in rabbits as side effects and even death can result. This veterinary medicinal product has been specially developed for dogs
. Do not use in cats as this can lead to overdosing. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any of the other components.

Side effects:
If the animal licks off the solution, increased salivation through the carrier solution can be observed for a short time. The extremely rare side effects include temporary skin reactions at the application site (skin discoloration, local hair loss, itching, reddening of the skin) and general itching or hair loss. In some exceptional cases, increased salivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hypersensitivity, depression, nervous symptoms), vomiting or breathing problems have been observed after use.

Interactions with other agents:
None known.

Use during pregnancy and lactation:
Laboratory tests with fipronil have not produced any indications of teratogenic or embryotoxic effects. No studies have been performed with this product in pregnant or lactating bitches. It should therefore only be used during pregnancy and lactation after the attending veterinarian has assessed the benefits and risks accordingly.

Dosage and method of application:
For external use only.

Solution for spot-on on the skin according to the body weight as follows:
1 pipette with ............................. 0.67 ml
per dog with a body weight
of 2 to 10 kg.
1 pipette with .............................. 1.34 ml
per dog with a body weight
of 10 to 20 kg.
1 pipette with .............................. 2.68 ml
per dog with a body weight
of 20 to 40 kg.
1 pipette with .............................. 4.02 ml
per dog with a body weight
of 40 to 60 kg.
2 pipettes with ............................ 2.68 ml.
For dogs over 60 kg.
Administration form:

Thermoformed pipettes:
Hold the pipette vertically. Tap the narrow part of the pipette so that all of the contents are in the main part of the pipette. Bend the cap of the pipette along the marked line. Part the fur so that the skin is visible. Place the pipette tip directly on the skin and squeeze the pipette several times to empty the contents on the skin. Repeat the procedure in a different location or two along the animal's back. Whitish solution residues can be seen up to 48 hours after treatment.

Treatment plan:
For the optimal elimination of a flea and / or tick infestation, the treatment plan can be drawn up according to the epidemiological conditions on site. Since there are no related tolerance studies, the minimum waiting time for the next treatment is 4 weeks.

Special warnings:
Shampooing one hour before treatment does not affect the effectiveness of the product against fleas. Bathing and intense wetness should be avoided for two days after the treatment. Bathing for one minute each week reduces the duration of the insecticidal action against fleas by one week. The veterinary medicinal product does not prevent individual ticks from infecting the animal. However, these ticks are killed in the first 24-48 hours after infestation. The killing usually takes place before the soaking, so that the risk of a tick-borne disease can thereby be reduced, but cannot be completely ruled out.

As soon as the ticks are killed, they generally fall off the animal, remaining ticks can be removed with a gentle pull.
Pet fleas also often infest the basket, storage area, and resting places such as carpets and upholstered furniture. In the event of intensive infestation and at the beginning of the control measure, these areas should
therefore be treated with a suitable insecticide and vacuumed regularly. As part of a treatment plan for flea allergy dermatitis, monthly applications are recommended for the allergic dog and other dogs living in the household. For optimal control of flea infestation in a multi-animal household, all dogs and cats should be treated with a suitable insecticide.

Advice in case of overdose:

In safety studies in dogs and puppies 2 months of age and older and weighing more than 2 kg, no side effects were observed for five consecutive days after administration of the recommended dose. The risk of side effects may increase in the event of an overdose.

Precautions for use in animals:
Animals should be carefully weighed prior to treatment. Avoid contact with the animal's eyes. If the veterinary medicinal product accidentally gets into the eyes, they must be flushed immediately and thoroughly with water. It is important to ensure that the veterinary medicinal product is applied to an area (base of the skull) that the animal cannot lick off. It must be ensured that treated animals cannot lick each other. Do not use veterinary medicinal products on wounds or skin lesions.

Precautions for the user:
This veterinary medicinal product can cause irritation of the mucous membranes and the eyes. Therefore, contact with the mouth or eyes should be avoided. If the veterinary medicinal product accidentally gets into the eyes, they must be rinsed immediately and thoroughly with water. If eye irritation persists, seek medical advice immediately and show the package insert or label. Do not eat, drink or smoke during use. Avoid contact with hands. If the veterinary medicinal product accidentally gets on the skin, it must be washed with soap and water.

Wash hands after use. Animals or users with known hypersensitivity to fipronil or any of the other ingredients should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. Avoid direct contact with the application site while it is still moist. Children are to be kept away from the treated animal during this time. It is therefore recommended not to treat the animals during the day but in the early evening, and freshly treated animals should not sleep with their owners, especially children.

Other precautionary measures:
Fipronil must not be allowed to enter bodies of water, dogs should not swim for the first two days after treatment. The veterinary medicinal product may contain certain materials, e.g. B. attack painted, varnished or other surfaces or furniture.

Disposal precautionary measures:
Unused veterinary medicinal products should preferably be handed in at pollutant collection points. In the case of joint disposal with household waste, it must be ensured that there is no improper access to this waste. Veterinary medicinal products must not be disposed of with wastewater or the sewage system. Fipronil must not be allowed to get into water, as it can be dangerous for fish and other aquatic organisms.
