- Hyaluronic acid or hyaluronan is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Due to its chemical and physical properties, it has a number of tasks. Hyaluronic acid can bind, for example, large amounts of water. Hyaluronic acid is found in the eye in the tear film and the glass body. Perfectly moisturizing hyaluronic acid permanently stabilizes the tear film. Hyaluronic acid also has the property of adhering to the tissue surface for a long time. This property is of great importance in the case of dry eye syndrome, thanks to its particularly good ability to bind with tear fluid (mucoglucose) and its longer storage, it reduces the need for frequent instillation of the preparation. Another advantage of hyaluronic acid is its viscoelasticity, it effectively soothes and reduces eyelid friction. The substance is characterized by high elasticity even when friction is frequent. When the eye is open, it slows down the evaporation of tears. It creates a protective layer, adheres perfectly to the cornea, and does not affect visual acuity. Hyaluronic acid also has a wound-healing effect and can promote the healing of an already damaged eye surface.
- Eyebright has a protective effect, promotes and accelerates the healing of minor damage to the cornea and conjunctiva.
Use
Depending on the type of disease, one drop directly into the eye 2-3 times a day. For prevention, one drop in each eye once a day.
