Apis mellifica in C6 potency (the honey bee) helps with severe swelling of the skin at the puncture or bite site, which is called edema ( Edema = fluid retention in the tissue). This edema is the defining characteristic of the homeopathic remedy Apis. If the throat swells up and there is a risk of suffocation, Apis can be life-saving.
Ledum palustre (the swamp porst) belongs to the heather or rhododendron family. It is also contained in the C6 potency in the biological remedy Petvital Insect Protect. Ledum helps with sharp trauma and general stab injuries, such as those caused by biting and stinging pests. But Ledum can also alleviate the consequences of injuries caused by thorns, nails and sharp teeth. For the production of the homeopathic remedy Ledum, the fresh plant is collected in summer, dried and pounded into powder. The leaves contain an essential oil.

The composition of the biological remedy Petvital Insect Protect is optimally tailored to alleviate the consequences of insect bites and tick bites.
It is a homeopathic remedy in globule form (granules, the drug carrier is sucrose), which does not burden the animal, but combats the redness, swelling and itching that can occur after insect bites and tick bites.
Because of the homeopathic dilution, the animal's immune system is stimulated to help itself.
So it is not a question of suppressing symptoms, but rather the self-healing powers are activated according to the simile rule of Hahnemann, the founder of classical homeopathy: "Similia similibus curentur", which means: "Similar things are cured by similar".
Stings and bites can be caused by various parasites, such as fleas, lice, lice, mites and ticks. But even flying insects such as bees and wasps can cause inflammatory reactions at the puncture site through their sting.
The ticks are of particular importance, as these pests can transmit dangerous diseases when they suckle.
However, some animals do not only react locally to such sting or bite injuries, but also develop systemic allergies to, for example, flea saliva or the poison in the bees' sting.
In the worst case, this can lead to life-threatening situations such as swelling in the throat and a risk of suffocation, or wheals all over the body with severe itching (hives).
The itching causes the animal to scratch itself and secondary bacterial superinfections with purulent, weeping skin rashes occur.
