The active substance contained in Bisco is called bisacodyl and is first converted by the liver before it reaches the intestines, where it is broken down into diphenol by the intestinal bacteria. Diphenol is the actual active ingredient and now ensures that the intestinal contents absorb liquid and in this way become softer and gain in volume. In combination with the intestinal movement-promoting effect of the diphenol, the intestinal activity is stimulated and facilitated and symptom-free emptying of the intestine is promoted.

How is bisacodyl, Bisco Zitron 50 used?

In the case of short-term constipation, children from the age of 2 can be treated with the laxative, as can adults. Please keep in mind, however, that constipation in young children should always be clarified by a doctor before a laxative is administered. The following dosage recommendation applies to Bisco Zitron:

• Children from 2 to 10 years: 1 tablet once a day
• Children from 10 years and adults: 1-2 dragees once a day

Take the dragees either in the morning or in the evening, but always with enough liquid and about 30 minutes before the meal. The laxative effect occurs approximately 6 to 10 hours after application.
