EZICLEN ® Colon cleanse concentrate
for the preparation of an oral solution
EZICLEN is indicated in adults for cleansing the intestines for all types of procedures in which a cleansed intestine is required (e.g. imaging of the intestines including endoscopy and radiological or operational measures).
EZICLEN is not a medication for constipation.

Colon cleanse, EZICLEN concentrate for manufacturing solution for ingestion Indication :
- The medicine contains three different active ingredients: sodium sulfate, magnesium sulfate and potassium sulfate.
- It is used in adults to cleanse the intestines before a medical or surgical procedure on them.
- It is not used to treat constipation.
- Before use, the medicine must be diluted with the amount of water specified in the "Method" category.

- Always take this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

How and when should the medicine be taken
- The preparation can be taken on either a "two-day" schedule or a "one-day" schedule. Your doctor will decide what plan you should follow and when.
- If no (short) anesthesia is given, you must stop drinking any liquids at least one hour before the procedure begins.

If (short) anesthesia is to be performed, you will usually need to stop drinking any liquids at least two hours before the procedure begins, following your doctor's instructions.

"Two-day" plan
- The application is spread over the evening before the procedure and the morning on the day of the procedure.
-
The day before the procedure:
- Start the first part of the plan (first bottle) in the early evening (i.e. no later than 6:00 p.m.).

On the day of the procedure:
- Start the second part of the plan (second bottle) early in the morning, approximately 10 to 12 hours after starting the first part (first bottle).

"One day" plan
- The application begins and ends the evening before the procedure.

The day before the procedure:
- Start the first part of the plan (first bottle) in the early evening (i.e. no later than 6:00 p.m.).
- Begin the second part of the plan (second bottle) approximately 2 hours after beginning the first part (first bottle).

"Two-day" plan

If you have taken more than you should
- If you think you have taken too much, not diluted it as directed, or not drunk enough extra water, report it to your doctor and drink enough water or clear liquids to avoid dehydration.

If you forget to take it
- If you miss a dose, talk to your doctor as soon as possible as this may mean that the medication will not work as expected.
- If you have any further questions about taking this medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Way :
- Take the medicine by mouth.
- A light breakfast is allowed the day before the procedure. After that, you should only consume clear liquids for lunch, dinner, and other meals until the procedure is over. Do not drink red and purple liquids, milk and alcoholic beverages.
- The medicine comes in a box with 2 bottles and a cup for diluting and taking the medicine. You need all of this for your treatment.
- Do not drink the contents of both bottles at the same time.
- Do not drink the contents of the bottles before diluting them.
- Don't forget to drink the extra amount of water or clear liquid allowed.
- Your doctor will give you a form on which you will record the start of treatment and the amount of fluids you drank while preparing for the colon cleanse. You should follow the instructions carefully and drink as much water or clear liquids as necessary to prevent dehydration.
- "Clear liquids" means water, tea or coffee (without milk or creamer), sparkling (carbonated) or still (non-carbonated) soft drinks, filtered fruit juice without pulp (not red or purple), clear soup or strained soup without solids.
- Do not consume alcoholic drinks.

Regardless of which schedule your doctor has selected, you should follow the following steps in both the first and second parts of the plan:
- For further information see instructions for use!
- Pour the contents of a bottle into the cup.
- Add water to the medicine until the mark on the cup is reached.
- Give yourself time (more than half an hour to an hour) to drink all the liquid in the cup.
- Important: Drink two (2) additional cups of water or a clear liquid. Each time, fill the cup up to the marking line with water or clear liquid.
- Give yourself time (more than half an hour) to drink all the liquid in the cup.
- The steps above should take around 2 hours and should be repeated in the second part of the plan.

Whatever your plan, you must stop drinking any liquids:
- At least one hour before the start of the procedure if no (short) anesthesia is used.
- Usually at least 2 hours before the start of the procedure, taking into account your doctor's instructions if (brief) anesthesia is given.
Side effects :
- Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
- If you have bleeding from the anus during preparation or after colonoscopy, please contact your doctor.

Stop taking the product and consult a doctor immediately if you notice the following symptoms:

- Changes in the concentration of certain substances in your blood. Examples include increased values for "aspartate aminotransferase", "creatine phosphokinase", "lactate dehydrogenase", "phosphorus", "bilirubin" or "uric acid" as well as lower values for "sodium", "potassium" or "calcium".

- If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.
Interactions :

Taking together with other medicines
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
- This also applies to medications that do not require a prescription and herbal medicines.
- If you are taking other medications, do so at least one to three hours before use or at least one hour after the end of the cleansing process. The diarrhea caused by the preparation can flush medicines out of the body, which then cannot work as expected.

Particular caution is required
- Medicines that can change fluid or salt levels in the blood (e.g. diuretics, calcium channel blockers or lithium) or those that affect heart rhythm.
- Medicines taken regularly by mouth: e.g. B. oral contraceptives, medicines for epilepsy, diabetes or antibiotics, levothyroxine (a hormone used to treat an underactive thyroid gland) and digoxin (used for heart problems), because the preparation can delay or completely prevent the absorption of these oral medicines, making them less effective or completely render ineffective.

The medicine must not be taken if:
- You are allergic to sodium sulphate, magnesium sulphate or potassium sulphate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- You have a serious heart problem (congestive heart failure).
- You suffer from serious deteriorations in your general health, such as: B. Severe dehydration.
- You are in an acute phase of inflammatory bowel disease (including Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).

You suffer from any of the following stomach or intestinal problems:
- Suspected or known intestinal obstruction or narrowing (stenosis)

- Suspected or existing perforated intestinal wall

- Acute abdominal diseases requiring surgery, such as acute appendicitis (appendicitis)

- You have ascites (abdominal dropsy).
- You have severe kidney problems (severe kidney failure).
- If you are not sure, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding :
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

- If you are breast-feeding, you should not breast-feed your baby for 48 hours after taking the second dose.

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if
- You are dehydrated (signs may include: dry mouth, feeling thirsty, headache, feeling dizzy, urinating less often than usual, extreme tiredness, palpitations and confusion).
- You have already had abnormal sodium and potassium levels in your blood.
- you have a heart problem The medicine can affect the heart rhythm due to changes in salt concentrations in the blood. Your doctor may need to monitor you during treatment.
- you have a kidney problem.
- you have a liver problem.
- You have a “uric acid” problem (gout or similar).
- you have trouble swallowing
- You suffer from “reflux,” where acid from your stomach passes into your esophagus.
- You are physically weak or in poor health.
- the mobility of your intestines is partially or completely restricted (hypomotility).
- You have previously been diagnosed with medical conditions or have had gastrointestinal operations that predestine you for hypomotility disorders.
- If you are weak or elderly (65 years or older), have severe kidney, liver or heart disease, or are at increased risk of changes in salt levels in the body (electrolyte imbalance), your doctor may decide to require special monitoring before and after to be carried out after the procedure. - If you experience severe vomiting or symptoms of dehydration (e.g. dry mouth, feeling thirsty) after taking this medicine, please contact your doctor. This should carry out rehydration measures.
- If you experience severe or persistent abdominal pain and/or anal bleeding after treatment with the medicine, contact your doctor. The drug has been linked to rare cases of intestinal inflammation (colitis).
- If any of the above applies to you (or you are not sure), talk to your doctor before taking.
- After taking the medication, you will have frequent, loose stools. This is normal and shows that the medication is working. It is better to stay near a toilet until the effect of the medication wears off.
- You should follow the instructions carefully and drink as much water or clear liquids as necessary to prevent dehydration.
