• The drug is a gastrointestinal agent, acts as a defoamer and is a diagnostic aid.
• It is applicable to all age groups.
• Its active ingredient simeticon disintegrates the gas bubbles embedded in the food pulp and in the mucus of the digestive tract. The gases released in the process can now be absorbed by the intestinal wall and removed by the intestinal activity.
• Espumisan Emulsion is used
  • For the symptomatic treatment of gas-related gastrointestinal complaints, such as B. Flatulence (meteorism), bloating, infant colic (three-month colic)
  • To prepare for examinations in the abdominal area, such as B. X-rays, sonography (ultrasound), gastroscopy
  • As a defoamer for poisoning with detergents (surfactants)

• Always take this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has discussed. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• dosage
  • The recommended dosage is:
    • For gas-related gastrointestinal complaints
      • z. B. Flatulence (meteorism), bloating, infant colic (three-month colic)
        • Infants: 25 drops each (corresponding to 1 ml) in the bottle feeding or before or after breastfeeding
        • Children from 1 - 6 years: 25 drops (equivalent to 1 ml); 3 to 5 times a day
        • Children from 6 to 14 years: 25 - 50 drops (corresponding to 1 - 2 ml); 3 to 5 times a day
        • Adolescents from 14 years and adults: 50 drops (equivalent to 2ml); 3 to 5 times a day
• To prepare for examinations in the abdominal area
  • X-ray, ultrasound
    • the day before the examination: 3 times 2 ml (corresponds to 3 times 50 drops or 3 times 1 pump stroke)
    • on the morning of the day of the examination: 2 ml (corresponds to 50 drops or 1 pump stroke)
  • As an additive to contrast medium suspensions
    • 4 - 8 ml (2 - 4 pumps) per 1 liter of contrast paste for double contrast display
  • To prepare for endoscopic examinations of the upper gastrointestinal tract (gastroscopy)
    • before endoscopy 4 - 8 ml (2 - 4 pumps)
    • If necessary, a few milliliters of the emulsion can be passed through the instrument channel of the endoscope during the examination to remove interfering foam bubbles.
• As a defoamer for poisoning with detergents (surfactants)
  • Depending on the severity of the poisoning:
    • Children: 2.5-10 ml
    • Adults: 10-20 ml

• If you take more emulsion than you should
  • Poisoning after use is not known.
  • The active ingredient simeticon causes the foam in the gastrointestinal tract to dissolve in a purely physical way and is chemically and biologically completely ineffective. Poisoning is therefore practically impossible. Large quantities of the emulsion can also be tolerated without any problems.

• If you forget to take a dose
  • In this case, you can take the intake / application at any time.

• Please shake the bottle before use.
• The preparation is taken with or after meals, if necessary also before going to bed.
• Note: It can also be taken after operations.
• The duration of the application depends on the course of the complaints. If necessary, the preparation can be taken for a long time.
• Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.
• Using the dropper for dosing
  • To drip, the bottle is held vertically downwards.
  • 25 drops (equivalent to 1ml for oral use) contain 40 mg simeticon.
