Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley (and used to make cookies, pasta and bread). It's too big for the body to break down and can cause digestive problems in many people because it inflames the small intestine. When consuming foods containing gluten:
1. The gluten enzyme Tolerase® G helps to break down the gluten proteins in the intestine into smaller parts with the help of EGCG from green tea.
2. Epigallocathechin-3-gallate (EGCG) has been shown in vitro to sequester gluten and bind it to gluten.
3. Bioceutical™ complex of Bifidobacterium breve IQB 0611, Bifidobacteria longum IQB 2901 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus IQB 2911 maintain the balance of the microbiome.
