Lactase improves lactose digestion
- For carefree enjoyment of milk and dairy products
Lactose intolerance is caused by a deficiency or insufficient enzyme activity of lactase. In the small intestine, the enzyme lactase splits lactose (milk sugar) into its components glucose and galactose, because only simple sugars can be absorbed by the intestine.
If there is a lactase deficiency or if the lactase activity is too low, lactose reaches the large intestine and is broken down there by the bacteria living there.
Milk and milk products contain important nutrients for a healthy diet. It is not necessary to do without these products when using Doppelherz Lactase 4.500. In people who have trouble digesting lactose, lactase improves lactose digestion. The enzyme breaks down the lactose and makes lactose-containing foods more digestible.
