Symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults and children over 8 years. Before starting treatment, an organic disease must have been ruled out.

Treatment with Laxbene should be temporary and supportive of a healthy lifestyle and dietary measures to eliminate constipation. In children, the duration of treatment should not exceed 3 months. If the symptoms persist despite accompanying dietary measures, it should be clarified whether there is an underlying organic cause that needs to be treated.

Indication/Application

  • The medicine is a powder that is made into a liquid medicine (oral solution) and then drunk straight away. It contains the active ingredient Macrogol 4000.
  • The preparation is a medicine (osmotic laxative) used to treat constipation in adults and children over 8 years of age.

dosage

  • Always take the medicine exactly as directed. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Adults and children over 8 years old
    • The usual dose is 1-2 sachets per day, preferably in one dose in the morning.
    • The daily dose should be adjusted according to the effect on constipation symptoms and can range from 1 sachet every other day (especially in children) to 2 sachets a day.
    • The medicine is not recommended for children under 8 years of age.

 

  • duration of use
    • If there is still no improvement after 2 weeks of use, a doctor should be consulted.
    • Children are usually prescribed the drug for a maximum of 3 months. You can help your child get rid of constipation by staying hydrated, eating a high-fiber diet, and getting plenty of physical activity.

 

  • If you take more of the medicine than you should
    • Like all laxatives, the preparation can lead to diarrhea in high doses. If diarrhea occurs, the dose should be reduced or the intake of the preparation should be stopped until the diarrhea has subsided. Diarrhea can cause soreness in the anus. See your doctor if diarrhea persists despite reducing the dose.

 

  • If you forget to take the medicine
    • Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Instead, take the normal dose at the next scheduled time.

 

  • If you stop taking the medicine
    • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if constipation comes back or gets worse after you stop taking this medicine.
