How does against diarrhea Loperamide ratiopharm acute 2mg work?

Loperamide ratiopharm acute contains the active ingredient loperamide, which has proven effective in the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea. Loperamide inhibits intestinal movement by directly attacking the receptors on the intestinal wall. In this way, the intestinal contents remain longer in the intestine and become firmer. This effectively counteracts diarrhea while at the same time curbing the excessive excretion of electrolytes and fluid, which can prevent fluid loss in diarrhea. In addition, Loperamide ratiopharm causes muscle tension in the sphincter in the rectum. It also does not attack the intestinal flora and is therefore well tolerated.

The film-coated tablets are swallowed whole with some liquid (e.g. 1 glass of water). A noticeable relief of the symptoms takes place after a few hours, so that you can continue your everyday life as usual as quickly as possible.

The medicine should not be used in infants and young children under the age of 2 years. Children under the age of 12 can only take the medicine after consulting a doctor or under medical supervision.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised not to take Loperamide ratiopharm acute 2mg.

Active against diarrhea ingredient: loperamide hydrochloride. Areas of application: Treatment of acute diarrhea in adults and children over 12 years of age, provided no causal therapy is available. Treatment longer than 2 days may only be carried out with a doctor's prescription and follow-up. 

Warning: film-coated tablets contain lactose!
