Femistelin 10mg action:
Femistelin 10mg is a medicinal product that contains dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) as an active substance - a steroid hormone produced in the adrenal glands and released into the blood. DHEA relieves cells from converting into sex hormones - estrogens in women and androgens in men. With age, the amount of DHEA decreases. The highest concentration occurs between the ages of 20 and 30, and after 30 it gradually decreases. The drug is indicated for use in the treatment of dehydroepiandrosterone deficiency in women with laboratory-confirmed DHEA deficiency.
Application:
Femistelin 10mg is indicated for the treatment of dehydroepiandrosterone deficiency in women with laboratory-confirmed DHEA deficiency. It can be used as an adjunct in the following disorders and conditions: menopause in women; excessive skin pigmentation, thinning of the epidermis; decreased physical and mental fitness, especially in the elderly; worsening mood, depression, sleep disorders, slowed thinking and decreased psychomotor drive; decreased sexual activity; obesity; decreased tissue sensitivity to insulin; circulatory system disorders; weakened immunity; primary and secondary adrenal insufficiency.
Additional information:
Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. It is recommended to protect it from moisture and light. Before starting to take the drug, you should discuss it with your doctor, who will order the necessary tests and decide on the need to use this drug. Women under 40 years of age should not take the drug. This drug should not be taken by women taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT). The decision to use this drug in the treatment of menopausal symptoms is made only by a doctor after a thorough analysis of the benefits and possible risks associated with the treatment and with the recommendation to adhere to the appropriate doses and duration of treatment. In women taking this drug, it is necessary to monitor the therapy by a doctor, who will check, for example: mental state (vitality, well-being, potency), body weight, fat tissue distribution, muscle tissue condition, concentration of certain hormones, bone condition, blood pressure values, biochemical tests (morphology, hematocrit, glucose, sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, liver enzyme activity and lipid profile). Without consulting a doctor, patients should not change, and in particular increase the dose of the drug. If severe side effects occur, discontinue the drug and contact your doctor. In the case of long-term use of the drug in doses higher than 25 mg per day in women, the concentration of DHEA in the blood should be measured and medical tests should be performed frequently enough. In the case of using the drug in higher doses for a longer period of time, the following symptoms may occur: amenorrhea, infertility, reduction of mammary glands, excessive body hair, masculinization (the appearance of male characteristics in women), decreased immunity, excessive aggression and hyperactivity, weight gain, lowering of the voice tone, male-pattern baldness. Femistelin should not be used by athletes, as it belongs to the group of prohibited anabolic - androgenic agents. If side effects such as acne or oily skin occur, the drug should be discontinued for 2-3 weeks. After this time, treatment can be continued at a lower dose, but consultation with a doctor is recommended. If side effects occur again, the drug should not be taken. Use in children and adolescents: should not be used. Use with other medicines: this should be discussed with your doctor, especially if you are taking medicines such as: anticoagulants (used to reduce blood clotting, e.g. heparin, warfarin); medicines used for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) - this may lead to increased secretion of estrogens; medicines containing androgens (male sex hormones), such as testosterone and testosterone derivatives - androgenic effects may be enhanced; anticonvulsants (used to treat epilepsy, e.g. carbamazepine, valproic acid) – this medicine may weaken their effect; psycholeptic drugs (used in psychiatry, e.g. phenothiazine, diazepine and oxazepine derivatives) – this medicine may weaken their effect; calcium antagonists (drugs used in circulatory system diseases, e.g. nitrendipine, diltiazem); oral hypoglycemic drugs (drugs used in diabetes, e.g. metformin) – increase the concentration of dehydroepiandrosterone in the blood serum; glucocorticosteroids – strongly inhibit the production of dehydroepiandrosterone in the adrenal glands, which causes a decrease in the concentration of this hormone in the blood; antipsychotic drugs (e.g. chlorpromazine, lithium salts) – this medicine may weaken their effect, which may cause a relapse of mental disorders; insulin produced in the body and administered as a medicine accelerates the removal of DHEA from the body and lowers the concentration of the hormone in the blood. If in any doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Use with food and drink: should be taken with a meal to accelerate its absorption. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: the use of the drug is contraindicated. Driving and operating machinery: there is no data on the effect of this drug on the ability to drive and operate machinery. Do not use if the patient has severe liver failure or severe kidney failure. Do not use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not use in case of normal DHEA concentration. Do not use in children and adolescents.
Side effects:
Some people may experience side effects when taking the drug. The drug is generally well tolerated when used in recommended doses. Side effects are rare, depend on the drug dose, duration of use and disappear after discontinuation of therapy. If you experience any side effects (including those not listed in the leaflet), please report them to your doctor or pharmacist.
Dosage of Femistelin 10mg tablets:
Use the medicine according to the doctor's recommendations or according to the instructions on the leaflet. Starting the medicine should be discussed with the doctor, who will order appropriate tests and decide whether the medicine is necessary. The medicine should be taken once a day - in the morning, according to the natural rhythm of DHEA secretion. The medicine should be taken with a meal to facilitate its absorption. In people using the medicine, it is necessary to monitor the therapy by a doctor. Recommended dose - the recommended initial daily dose for women is 5 mg. The initial dose of the medicine should be gradually increased (by 5-10 mg every 2 weeks) until the desired therapeutic effects are achieved. It is recommended to use the lowest effective dose. Changing the dose, especially increasing it, always requires consultation with a doctor. The maximum daily dose of DHEA recommended for women is 25 mg. The doctor will adjust the dose depending on the concentration of DHEA in the serum and the effectiveness of the treatment. If it is necessary to use doses higher than 25 mg in women (only with a doctor's prescription), the doctor-ordered hormone serum concentration test and other tests ordered by the doctor should be performed frequently enough. The drug's effect is not immediate and occurs after several weeks of taking it, which is why the drug is intended for long-term use. Use in elderly women: elderly women usually require higher doses of the drug due to reduced DHEA production. The use of doses higher than recommended should be consulted with a doctor. If there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, consult a doctor.
