S-adenosylmethionine with folate (bioactive folic acid)
S-adenosylmethionine, or SAM-e for short, is only found in very small amounts in our food. However, it can be produced by our body from the amino acid L-methionine and the energy-rich molecule ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Together with folate, S-adenosylmethionine influences a number of biological processes.
Folate has a decisive influence on our state of mind because it contributes to normal psychological function and can counteract tiredness. It can therefore counteract the psychological strain caused by stress. The B vitamin supports the normal function of the immune system and is important for normal homocysteine metabolism. Homocysteine is a metabolic product that is harmful to cells and tissue in too high a concentration.
