Mode of action:
How do the ingredients of the drug work?

The ingredients come from the sage plant and act as a natural mixture. About the plant itself:
- Appearance: Approx. 50 cm tall shrub with grey-green leaves with a slightly knobbed surface and a hairy underside
- Occurrence: Mainly in the Mediterranean region to the Middle East
- Main ingredients: tannins and essential oils, which include thujone, cineol and camphor
- Plant parts and preparations used: Extracts and tinctures from flowers and especially leaves, sage oil
The essential oils of the plant inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi and viruses. They are supported by the protein-precipitating effect of the tannins that are also contained. Together, oil and tannins curb superficial inflammation. Sage can also relieve cramps in the digestive tract.
