Mode of action Bronchitis, Acute bronchitis treatment pelargonium sidoides, UMCKALOABO 20 mg:

How does the ingredient in the drug work?

The ingredients come from the pelargonium plant and act as a natural mixture. About the plant itself:

- Appearance: perennial, approx. 50 cm high plant with small, heart-shaped leaves, resembles a small balcony geranium
- Occurrence: South Africa
- Main ingredients: coumarins (umckalin), tannins, essential oils
- Plant parts and preparations used: root extracts
An extract from pelargonium prevents bacteria and viruses from attaching themselves to the human host cell and then being able to penetrate. This antimicrobial effect is supported by the protein-precipitating properties of the tannins and essential oils also contained, which ultimately lead to the bacteria being destroyed.

How to recognize a respiratory infection of the bronchi
A cold often starts with a sore throat. Children, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system are particularly susceptible. And if the cold viruses also get into the bronchial tubes in the case of a respiratory infection, the cold symptoms generally get worse. This leads to a dry, irritating cough and often to a strong build-up of mucus. Fever, fatigue or headaches can also occur. Basically, if a cold lasts longer than seven days, the symptoms worsen significantly or the fever persists for several days, a doctor should make an accurate diagnosis. The same applies if shortness of breath or bloody sputum occurs.

Viruses are the main cause of respiratory infections
Only a small proportion of 5-10% of respiratory infections are caused by bacteria. The rest, i.e. more than 90-95%, is caused by a viral infection. Antibiotics only work against bacteria, so treatment with them only makes sense in a few cases.

Effectively combating respiratory infections of the bronchi
Umckaloabo® works against viruses that settle in the bronchi. In addition, extract from the roots of Cape geranium helps loosen stuck mucus and reduce the overall duration of the disease. Umckaloabo® is very well tolerated and can be used in children from the age of one. Children under the age of six should be treated in consultation with a doctor.

The right thing for every patient: three different dosage forms
Umckaloabo® is characterized by good tolerability and is available in different dosage forms. The following applies to all three: Even after the symptoms have subsided, Umckaloabo® should be taken for a few more days. In this way, a relapse can be avoided.

  • Umckaloabo ® drops: Applicable to children from 1 year, adolescents and adults through an age-appropriate dosage.
  • Umckaloabo ® film tablets: The special extract in the form of an alcohol-free and gluten-free tablet is ideal for people who travel or travel a lot.
  • Umckaloabo ® juice for children: The juice is free from alcohol, gluten and lactose. A pipette and a dosing cup make it easier to administer medication.
