1. What are free radicals?
Free radicals are atoms that have a free electron in their electron shell. Free radicals are very unstable, so after their formation they react instantly with other chemical compounds or elements, which also turn into free radicals. Taka begins a chain reaction, leading to the formation of new and new highly reactive elements and compounds that can damage the body's cells by attacking their DNA or cell membrane.
To protect against the damaging effects of free radicals, our body has a protective system of antioxidants.
2. What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are molecules that safely interact with free radicals without themselves becoming unstable compounds and interrupting the chain reaction they cause before the body's vital molecules are damaged.
The protective system of antioxidants is made up of enzymes, vitamins and trace elements that work closely together
ENZYMES
Superoxide dismutase (SOD)
SOD is a powerful antioxidant that protects cells from the toxic effects of oxygen when it itself becomes a free radical, the so-called "superoxide radical". SOD is found in all major tissues of the body, but has a special role in the cells of the lungs and skin. With age, the body produces less and less superoxide dismutase, which largely determines the aging process.
Catalase
Catalase is another important enzyme that is found in the cells of the skin, bone marrow, liver, kidneys and mucous membranes and neutralizes free radicals formed in these organs and tissues as a result of their natural functions.
VITAMINS
Vitamin E
The most widely used fat-soluble antioxidant in the human body. One of the most effective antioxidants that breaks the chain reaction of free radicals in all tissues containing lipids, as well as in the cell membrane. Vitamin E plays a key role in the normal functioning of a number of hormones, enzymes, lipids, as well as the erythrocyte membrane, the epithelium of the respiratory system and the skin.
Vitamin C
The most abundant water-soluble antioxidant in the human body. It acts mainly in the cell. Its role in neutralizing the free radicals formed as a result of cigarette smoke and environmental pollution is especially important.
Pro-vitamin A (β-carotene)
Pro-vitamin A is a fat-soluble antioxidant that complements the antioxidant action of vitamin E. A portion of pro-vitamin A is converted to vitamin A (retinol), which has no antioxidant activity but plays a key role in a number of vital processes. The role of vitamin A in the formation of eye pigments, as well as in the growth of epithelial cells, skeleton and reproductive organs has been proven. Increases the body's resistance to cold and other adverse environmental influences.
MICROELEMENTS
Selenium
Selenium belongs to the group of trace elements in the human body. It is part of one of the enzyme systems that neutralize certain free radicals that damage lipid structures in tissues. Selenium and vitamin E mutually enhance their action as antioxidants. Selenium plays an important role in the normal functioning of the pancreas, which is necessary for the absorption of vitamin E. Vitamin E in turn reduces the loss of selenium in the body and maintains it in its active form.
Wheat germ
Wheat germ is the richest natural source of antioxidants, as well as many other enzymes, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Of particular importance for its antioxidant activity is the high content of the enzymes SOD and catalase.
NEOXID ANTIOXIDANT Dosage:
Take NEOXID one tablet a day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
The recommended daily dose is 1 tablet daily.
Due to the increased needs of the body in pregnant women, a daily dose of 2 tablets per dose is recommended.
In patients receiving radiation and chemotherapy, the recommended daily dose varies from 100 to 150 mcg of selenium, corresponding to 2 to 3 tablets per day.
Side effects:
All active ingredients of NEOXID exist in the human body, so the side effects of the drug can occur only in its overdose. The clinical manifestations of overdose are mainly due to the fat-soluble vitamin E and β-carotene, as well as in very rare cases the trace element selenium.
In case of β-carotene overdose, yellowing of the skin on the palms and soles of the feet is observed, but not on the sclera, loss of appetite and swelling.
Vitamin E overdose is a risk factor for pregnancy and can seriously harm the fetus and newborn. Selenium overdose is manifested by hair loss, nail damage and polyneuritis.
In very rare cases, intolerance to the active ingredients or excipients in the tablet has been observed. If you develop a rash, itching, swelling of the lips and face or shortness of breath after taking NEOXID, stop taking the medicine and talk to your doctor.
Contraindications:
Hypervitaminosis A and E.
Storage:
Store the product at room temperature out of reach of children.
Store NEOXID in the original package. Do not use the product after its expiration date or if the integrity of the package is compromised.
