- The drug is a drug used to stimulate ammonia detoxification by increasing urea synthesis in the liver.
- It is also used for ammonia detoxification in the tissue, i.e. outside the liver (extrahepatic).
- The drug is used to treat impaired consciousness due to liver failure (latent and manifest hepatic encephalopathy).

- Unless otherwise directed by your doctor, the usual dose is up to 4 ampoules daily. At the onset of impaired consciousness (pre-coma) and clouding of consciousness (coma), your doctor can administer up to 8 ampoules within 24 hours, depending on the severity of the condition.
- Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

If you use too much medicine:
- To date, no symptoms of poisoning have been observed in the case of an overdose of ornithine partate. If necessary, your doctor will treat the symptoms you are experiencing

- The medicinal product is a concentrate for making up a solution for infusion. Before use, your doctor will add the ampoules to an infusion solution and infuse the medicine in this form.
- However, your doctor should only prepare the mixture immediately before use. However, for reasons of venous compatibility, your doctor should not dissolve more than 6 ampoules per 500 ml infusion.
- The infusion rate is a maximum of 5 g ornithine partate (corresponding to the content of one ampoule) per hour.
- The medicinal product must not be administered intra-arterially.
