Indication/ TRAUMON Spray 50 ml, lower back pain treatment at home Application

  • The preparation is a medicine for use on the skin.
  • The active ingredient etofenamate belongs to the group of non-steroidal (cortisone-free) anti-inflammatory drugs (rheumatic drugs) and has anti-inflammatory (anti-inflammatory) and pain-relieving (analgesic) properties.
  • application areas
    • For external supportive symptomatic treatment of pain;
      • in the case of acute strains, sprains or bruises in the area of ​​the extremities as a result of blunt trauma, e.g. B. Sports injuries;
      • the soft tissues near the joint (e.g. bursa, tendons, ligaments and joint capsule) in arthrosis of the knee joint.

  • Always use this medicine exactly as described or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
    • Spray 7 sprays 4 times a day (1 spray corresponds to 18 mg etofenamate) over a large area on the diseased area and its surroundings. It is advisable to rub in the solution lightly after every 1 - 2 sprays and allow it to dry.
  • The practicing doctor will decide about the length of the treatments. In the case of blunt injuries (e.g. sports injuries), application over 1 week is usually sufficient. The therapeutic benefit of application beyond this period has not been proven.
  • In the case of rheumatic diseases, a treatment period of 3 - 4 weeks is sufficient in most cases. If the symptoms persist, the doctor should be consulted, who will decide how to proceed.
  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

 

  • If you use more than you should
    • If the recommended dosage for application to the skin is exceeded, the spray should be removed and washed off with water. The doctor must be informed if excessive amounts are used or if the preparation is accidentally taken.

  • Only for use on the skin! Don't take!
  • Before applying a bandage, the preparation should dry on the skin for a few minutes.
  • The use of an occlusive dressing (plastic film covering) is not recommended.
  • Hands should be washed after applying the product unless these are the areas to be treated.

  • Like all medicines, the preparation can have side effects, although not everyone gets them.
  • Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):
    • Local skin reactions (dermatitis) such as B. skin reddening, itching, burning, skin rash also with pustule or wheal formation
  • Rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):
    • Local allergic reactions (contact dermatitis) and hypersensitivity reactions
  • Very rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):

  • Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported after systemic use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. They can manifest themselves as: (a) non-specific allergic reactions (e.g. swelling of the face, tongue and inner larynx with constriction of the airways) and anaphylaxis (e.g. tachycardia, drop in blood pressure to the point of dangerous shock, (b) reactivity of the airways with asthma, aggravated asthma, shortness of breath due to narrowing of the airways or shortness of breath, or (c) various skin reactions including rashes of various types, itching, hives, capillary bleeding in the skin (purpura), swelling of the skin on the face and less commonly exfoliative and bullous Dermatoses (including epidermal toxic necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and erythema multiforme).
  • As soon as any of these symptoms appear, which can happen after the first application, immediate medical attention is required.
  • If the spray is applied to large areas of the skin and used over a longer period of time, the occurrence of side effects that affect a specific organ system or even the entire organism, as can occur under certain circumstances after systemic use of etofenamate-containing medicines, cannot be ruled out.
  • If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

interactions

  • Use of the preparation together with other medicines:
    • When used as intended, no interactions have become known to date. The attending physician should nevertheless be informed about which medications are being used at the same time or have been used until recently.

Contraindications

    • The drug must not be used
      • if you are allergic to etofenamate, the main metabolite flufenamic acid, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
      • if you have ever had an allergic reaction such as B. have suffered from asthma, shortness of breath, runny nose, swelling or hives;
      • on open injuries, inflammation or infections of the skin as well as on eczema;
      • on eyes, lips or mucous membranes;
      • in the last trimester of pregnancy;
      • in children and young people.

    • In the first and second trimester of pregnancy, you should only use the medicine after consulting your doctor. You must not use the preparation in the last trimester of pregnancy, as an increased risk of complications for mother and child cannot be ruled out.
  • lactation
    • Since small amounts of etofenamate pass into breast milk, prolonged use of the drug during breastfeeding should be avoided if possible and the daily dose should not be exceeded. In order to avoid absorption by the infant, breastfeeding women should not apply the drug to the chest area.
    • Hands should be washed after use to avoid exposure of the infant to the drug.

  • Warnings and Precautions:
    • The spray may only be used under certain precautionary measures and under direct medical supervision,
      • if you suffer from asthma, hay fever, swelling of the nasal mucosa (so-called nasal polyps) or chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases or chronic respiratory infections (especially coupled with hay fever-like symptoms).
      • if you are also hypersensitive to other substances, e.g. B. with skin reactions, itching or hives. Direct sunlight and solarium visits should be avoided during and 2 weeks after treatment.
    • The occurrence of systemic side effects from use cannot be excluded when the drug is used on large areas of skin and over a long period of time.
    • Care should be taken to ensure that children do not come into contact with the areas of the skin rubbed with the drug.
    • The spray can cause discolouration or surface changes on polished furniture or plastic. Therefore, if necessary, wash your hands after rubbing in or avoid contact with the objects mentioned above.
