• This preparation is a fungicidal medicine for the external treatment of fungal diseases of the skin (antifungal).
• It is used to treat severe forms of diaper rash, in which proven colonization with yeast fungi (Candida spp.) is the main focus.
• Miconazole is used in infants, children and adults.

• Always use this medicine exactly as described here or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The paste is applied to the entire affected area with each diaper change and after each bath.

• duration of use
  • Treatment should be continued for at least a week after all symptoms have disappeared.
  • The signs of the fungal disease usually subside significantly within the first 7 days of starting treatment with miconazole. If the signs of the fungal disease do not go away within the first 7 days after starting treatment, you must consult a doctor.
  • Do not use miconazole for more than 7 days without medical advice.
  • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Miconazole is too strong or too weak.

• If you use more than you should
  • Excessive use may cause skin reactions, which usually resolve after stopping therapy.
  • If you accidentally take Miconazole, please contact your doctor.

• If you forgot the application
  • Do not apply twice if you forget the previous application.

• If you cancel the application
  • If you stop treatment with miconazole too early, it is possible for the fungal infection to come back.

• For application on the skin.
• Miconazole is applied to the entire affected area with each diaper change and after each bath.
• Before applying the paste, the skin should be cleaned with lukewarm water and dried carefully. The paste is applied carefully with the fingertips without massaging it in.
• Classic treatment methods and precautionary measures must also be observed when using the paste. Of great importance is the use of non-occlusive (disposable) diapers and frequent diaper changes. Infected skin should not be cleaned with scented soaps, shampoos, or lotions.

• Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
• Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people)
  • Hypersensitivity reactions with itching, swelling and reddening of the skin; severe courses with shortness of breath and drop in blood pressure.
  • hives, contact dermatitis, rash, burning skin, dermatitis.
  • Skin irritation, sensation of warmth.
  • Localized decrease in normal skin color.
• If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

• Use together with other medicines
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines.
  • Pastes containing zinc oxide may reduce the effectiveness of other active ingredients applied at the same time, such as antiseptics, antiphlogistics (anti-inflammatories) and dithranol. Therefore, miconazole should be completely removed before using any other topical drug.
  • Miconazole can inhibit the metabolism of drugs that are broken down by the liver (enzymes cytochrome P450 2C9 and 3A4). After application to the skin, interactions are only to be expected in very rare cases. The following medicines should be used with caution as the effect and/or side effects may be increased or prolonged:
    • anticoagulants, e.g. B. warfarin (to monitor blood clotting levels).
    • certain medicines used to treat high blood sugar levels, e.g. B. sulphonylureas (monitoring of blood sugar levels).
    • certain medicines used to treat epilepsy, e.g. B. Phenytoin (monitoring of plasma levels).

• The drug must not be used
  • if you are allergic to miconazole nitrate, zinc oxide, related antifungal medicines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

pregnancy MICOTAR ZP, miconazole nitrate Paste, infant rash and breast feeding period

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
• Miconazole applied to the skin is absorbed into the body to a very small extent (less than 1%).
• There are no data on whether the active ingredient is excreted in breast milk.
• You should therefore only use the preparation during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting a doctor.
• Please do not apply miconazole to the breast area while breastfeeding. In this way you avoid direct contact of the infant with miconazole.
