Composition:




1 suppository contains 125 mg of ibuprofen and an excipient: solid fat. Ibuprofen



has



been clinically proven effective in treating mild to moderate pain, such as teething and toothache, headaches, earaches, sore throats, post-operative pain, pain resulting from soft tissue damage and fever, including post-vaccination reactions, as well as pain and fever associated with colds and flu.




Dosage




12.5 kg to 17 kg (2 to 4 years) - 1x1 suppository (125 mg), 1 suppository every 8 hours (maximum 375 mg ibuprofen per day)

17 kg to 20.5 kg (4 to 6 years) - 1x1 suppository (125 mg), 1 suppository every 6 hours (maximum 500 mg ibuprofen per day)




Contraindications



Nurofen for children is contraindicated in patients:

* with hypersensitivity to ibuprofen and other NSAIDs or any of the excipients,

* with a history of bronchospasm, asthma, rhinitis or urticaria after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,

* with active or past peptic ulcer disease and in persons with gastrointestinal bleeding,

* with severe liver or kidney failure and uncontrolled heart failure,

* with systemic lupus erythematosus,

* with severe heart failure,


should not be taken during the last trimester of pregnancy.



Side effects



Uncommon: indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea, headache, hives, itching.


Rare: diarrhea, flatulence, constipation, vomiting.


Very rare: gastric and/or duodenal ulcer, sometimes with bleeding and perforation, oliguria, edema, acute renal failure, renal papillary necrosis, increased blood urea, liver function disorders, anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia, agranulocytosis, severe skin reactions (including erythema multiforme), severe skin and soft tissue infections (as complications of chickenpox), swelling of the face, tongue and larynx, dyspnoea, tachycardia, hypotension, shock, worsening of asthma symptoms, symptoms of aseptic meningitis: stiff neck, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, disorientation, especially in patients with existing autoimmune disorders (systemic lupus erythematosus, mixed connective tissue disease).
