Field of use:

Proven selenium deficiency that cannot be corrected through nutrition. A selenium deficiency can occur in:
- maldigestion and malabsorption states,
- Malnutrition and malnutrition (e.g. total parenteral nutrition).

- Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.

The recommended dose is:
- Daily 50 µg selenium (equivalent to 1 ampoule) im, iv.

duration of use
- Parenteral administration should continue as long as there is a proven selenium deficiency and sufficient intake of selenium with food is not possible.

Way :
- The injection is given as an intramuscular or intravenous route.
- The injection solution is transferred under sterile conditions into a disposable syringe and injected intramuscularly or slowly intravenously at body temperature.
- When used as an additive to infusions, the formation of non-specific precipitations should be ruled out in any case.
- It is recommended to check the compatibility of new combinations with a mixing test.
- Selenium determination in whole blood or serum is useful for monitoring therapy.
Side effects :

Use together with other medicines
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using any other medicines, have recently taken/used any other medicines or might take/use any other medicines.
- When administering the drug parenterally as an addition to infusion solutions, it must be ensured that no non-specific precipitation occurs. It is important to ensure that the pH value does not fall below 7.0 and that no mixture is mixed with reducing agents such as: B. vitamin C, since then a precipitation of elementary selenium cannot be ruled out. Elemental selenium is not soluble in aqueous medium and not bioavailable.
- The preparation can be mixed with all common infusion solutions (electrolyte and carbohydrate solutions).
Contraindications :

- if you are allergic to sodium selenite pentahydrate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- in selenium poisoning.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding :
- In the case of proven, clinically proven selenium deficiency, there are no restrictions on use during pregnancy in the therapeutic dose range.

- Selenium passes into breast milk.
