Vitamin D is a group of several substances. The form used in most supplements is vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). The body can produce vitamin D3 itself from cholesterol in the skin. However, this requires the UVB radiation of sunlight, which is only available in sufficient intensity in the summer months. In winter, the body is dependent on the stored vitamin supply. The ability of the skin to form vitamin D3 is significantly reduced, especially with age. In addition, self-production decreases when spending time outdoors decreases.

In addition to the body's own production, vitamin D3 can also be ingested through food. Few foods contain vitamin D3 in significant amounts such as oily fish (e.g. herring and mackerel). Eggs, milk and butter contain much smaller amounts of vitamin D3.

These maximum amounts refer to the total intake of vitamin D from foods, dietary supplements and medicinal products.

Adults and children from 4 years:
Take 1 tablet every 5th day with some liquid with a meal.
