Oxymetazoline, Nosox Classic 0.05% nasal spray 10ml

  • The active substance contained in Nosox Classic 0.05% nasal spray - oxymetazoline hydrochloride, narrows blood vessels. The drug is indicated for the reduction of swelling of the nasal mucosa in the course of inflammation, e.g. allergic conditions.

Composition of Oxymetazoline, Nosox Classic 0.05% nasal spray:

Active substance: oxymetazoline hydrochloride (Oxymetazolini hydrochloridum). 1 ml of solution contains 0.5 mg of oxymetazoline hydrochloride. One 45 microliter spray dose contains 22.5 micrograms of oxymetazoline hydrochloride and excipients: disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride, citric acid monohydrate, purified water.

Operation of Oxymetazoline Nosox Classic 0.05% nasal spray:

The medicinal product Nosox Classic 0.05% nasal spray is indicated for use in adults and children over 6 years of age in the case of nasal mucosa swelling appearing in e.g. in acute and allergic rhinitis. Oxymetazoline hydrochloride, the active substance of the drug, narrows the blood vessels. Topical application helps to reduce swelling in the inflamed nasal mucosa. In addition, the drug reduces the amount of discharge, making it easier for you to breathe freely through your nose. By reducing the congestion of the nasal mucosa, the drainage ducts of the paranasal sinuses are opened and widened, which unblocks the Eustachian tubes. The drug supports the removal of secretions and the treatment of bacterial infection.

Oxymetazoline Application:
Nosox Classic 0.05% nasal spray indicated for use in mucosal edema in the course of acute rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, paranasal sinusitis, Eustachian tube inflammation, otitis media. For use in adults and children over 6 years of age.

Additional Oxymetazoline information:
Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. It is recommended to protect against moisture and light. Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before using this medicine. Only after consulting a doctor and with special care, the drug should be used in people with: cardiovascular diseases (e.g. ischemic heart disease, hypertension), increased intraocular pressure, especially narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hyperplasia, pheochromocytoma, metabolic disorders (e.g. diabetes, hyperthyroidism) and in people taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and other drugs that increase blood pressure. The use of longer than recommended and overdosage of the drug should be avoided. Please note Since the effectiveness of drugs to reduce nasal swelling decreases due to longer than recommended use or overdose, this may lead to the need to use increasingly higher doses or more frequent use of the drug, and therefore constant use of the product may be necessary. In the event of longer use than recommended or abuse of the drug, its use should be discontinued immediately. Continuous use of the preparation can lead to obstructive swelling caused by reactive nasal congestion (rebound effect) and to chronic drug-induced rhinitis, as well as mucosal atrophy or dry rhinitis. Usually these symptoms disappear when you stop taking the medicine. Overuse of topical nasal medications can lead to mucosal atrophy and reactive congestion with drug-induced rhinitis. Use with other drugs: if you are taking other drugs, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. It is important to know that the concomitant use of tricyclic antidepressants or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) with this medicine may lead to an increase in blood pressure. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: the possibility of using the drug should be discussed with your doctor, special care should be taken when using the drug. Driving and using machines: the drug used for a long period of time or in doses higher than recommended may have an effect on the cardiovascular system and the central nervous system, which may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. The drug contains benzalkonium chloride - 2.3 mcg in each spray dose of 45 mcl. This ingredient can cause irritation or swelling inside the nose, especially with long-term use. Only one person should use one package.

Oxymetazoline Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Do not use in the case of dry rhinitis. Do not use in infants and children under 6 years of age.

Oxymetazoline Side effects:
Some people may experience side effects while taking the drug. Common: nasal burning or dryness, sneezing, especially in sensitive patients. Uncommon: systemic symptoms - palpitations, increased heart rate and increased blood pressure. Rare: headache and dizziness, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue. After the effect of the drug has worn off, in rare cases, the swelling of the nasal mucosa (the so-called reactive congestion) may become more severe. Prolonged or frequent use of oxymetazoline, its use in doses higher than recommended, may cause reactive congestion with drug-induced rhinitis. This can happen after 5-7 days of treatment, continuing the application may lead to permanent damage to the nasal mucosa, decreased ciliary activity or dry rhinitis. Long-term use or abuse of this drug may also reduce the effectiveness of the drug.

Dosage of the nasal spray Oxymetazoline, Nosox Classic 0.05%:

The drug should be used according to the doctor's instructions or according to the recommendations on the leaflet. For nasal use. Before the first use and after a break in use for more than 4 days, press the pump several times until a full spray appears. Adults and children over 6 years of age: it is recommended to apply one dose (one press) to each nostril 2-3 times a day. Do not use the drug more than 3 times a day. Do not use for more than 5 to 7 days, treatment can be continued after a break of several days. If symptoms persist or worsen after 5-7 days of use, consult a doctor.
