Strophanthin, also known as ouabain, has long been used as an arrow poison by the natives of Africa. It is obtained from a creeper that produces milky juice, but it is also an endogenous human hormone that is formed in the zona fasciculata of the adrenal gland and is involved in the regulation of salt and water balance. The human hypothalamus also contains g-strophanthin. The g-strophanthin is therefore an endogenous substance. In any case, the work of the heart can be significantly relieved by its influence. If the adrenal glands are weak, which must be expected with increasing age, administration of g-strophanthin can compensate for the lack of function of the adrenal glands and thus support the weak "senile heart".

Application:
In acute conditions, adults and adolescents from the age of 12 take 1 tablet every half to full hour, up to a maximum of 12 times a day. In the case of chronic forms, adults and adolescents from the age of 12 take 1 tablet 1-3 times a day. The tablets should be taken before meals with sufficient liquid.

There is insufficient documented experience with the use of this medicine in children. It should therefore not be used in children under the age of 12.
