1. WHAT IS APIS MELLIFICA AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Apis mellifica is an anthroposophic medicine.

Indications:
According to anthroposophic knowledge of man and nature, the indications include the harmonization of the body's warmth and the structuring of metabolic processes in localized inflammations and disorders of peripheral metabolic organization, e.g., tonsillitis, inflammatory diseases of the lymphatic vessels (lymphangitis), ovaries and fallopian tubes (adnexitis), rheumatic diseases, including acute inflammatory flare-ups, and itchy skin rashes (urticarial exanthema).

2. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE USING APIS MELLIFICA?

Apis mellifica D3 to D20 must not be used if you are hypersensitive to bee venom. No contraindications are known for Apis mellifica D30.

Precautions for use:
If there is blood in the urine, fever, or if symptoms persist for more than 5 days, a doctor should be consulted.

Children:
Apis mellifica D3 Liquid Dilution for Injection should not be used in children under 12 years of age, as there is insufficient documented experience.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
As with all medicines, Apis mellifica should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting a doctor.

Interactions with other medicines:
None known. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription.

3. HOW TO USE APIS MELLIFICA:

Always use Apis mellifica exactly as your doctor has told you. Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is:

  • Adults and children aged 6 years and over receive 1 ml injected subcutaneously 2 – 3 times a week up to once a day.
  • Children aged 1 to 5 years receive a single dose of 0.5 ml.
  • Infants in their first year of life: 0.3 ml.

The appropriate potency level for treatment is selected by the physician based on the specific clinical picture and prescribed individually for the patient. Subcutaneous injection is usually administered into the thigh, the outer upper arm, or the abdominal region. After cleaning the injection site (e.g., by wiping with 70% alcohol), pinch up a fold of skin and insert the needle at an angle. Gently pull back the plunger. If blood appears, a blood vessel has been hit. In this case, repeat the injection at a different site. If no blood appears, inject slowly, then withdraw the needle and briefly press a cotton swab onto the injection site. It is strongly recommended that the injection technique be learned from an experienced individual.

Duration of use:
Treatment should be completed after two weeks. If no improvement is seen after two days in cases of acute inflammation, a doctor should be consulted. The duration of treatment for chronic conditions requires consultation with a physician.

If you forget to use Apis mellifica:
Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not entirely sure how to use this medicine.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

When injecting Apis mellifica D3, harmless redness may occasionally occur around the injection site. No side effects are known for the liquid dilutions for injection from D6 onwards.
