Man (n) does not talk about it! Almost every man in his life is confronted with the fact that the prostate (prostate gland), which is located below the bladder, grows with age and the urethra narrows. This phenomenon, also known as benign prostate enlargement (lat. benign prostatic hyperplasia, BHP), occurs in 50% of all men between the ages of 50 and 60 years. A change in the hormone balance with age is assumed to be the cause of this growth. This enlargement of the prostate initially causes minor problems with urination, which, however, increase if left untreated. A weakening stream of urine, delayed emptying of the bladder and frequent urge to urinate are the first signs of enlargement. This can be particularly annoying at night if it is no longer possible to sleep through the night due to the frequent urge to urinate.
