Lyme disease test
Veritest - Lyme disease test for testing on ticks

The tick rapid test is an immunological rapid test for the rapid and qualitative detection of Borrelia directly in the tick. Lyme disease and TBE are the most common diseases transmitted by ticks. Vaccination against Borrelia is not currently possible. However, it has been shown that early diagnosis and antibiotic therapy can reduce long-term effects and complications. The development of new immunological techniques for the direct detection of Borrelia in the tick enables you and the doctor to make a faster diagnosis and immediate treatment.

There are therefore two main options for testing for Lyme disease:

  1. The detection of antibodies.
  2. The detection of the pathogen itself.

Many of these detection methods are sometimes difficult to assess and it can take 6 - 8 weeks for the laboratory results to be available.

Sampling:
Remove the attached tick as quickly as possible! Avoid crushing the tick's body. Do not apply any oil or adhesives to the animal.

Structure of the test cassette:
In the plastic housing of the test cassette there is a test strip with the sample opening at the right end and the reaction field window in the left part. In the reaction field of the test strip there is a test region (T) and the control region (C). The label next to the window marks the respective test and control region.

This test can be used to estimate the risk of possible infection by the tick in question immediately after the tick bite. If the test result is negative, however, it should be remembered that if there is a suspicion of Borrelia infection, careful clinical observation is still recommended, as further unnoticed bites by other ticks may have occurred.
