  • 50 mg lidocaine

indication

  • The drug contains a locally effective painkiller (local anesthetic) and is used to relieve painful symptoms in the anal area.
  • The drug is used for
    • Anal pain relief before proctologic examination.

dosage

  • Always use the medicine exactly as directed. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
    • The ointment is usually applied 2 to 3 times a day.
    • The amount depends on the size of the skin and mucous membrane areas to be treated.
    • The drug contains a fast and effective painkiller. It is therefore sufficient if you use the ointment sparingly. The maximum dose of 2.5 g ointment (125 mg lidocaine) per single application should not be exceeded.
  • duration of use
    • The ointment may only be used without medical advice until you see a doctor, but for a maximum of 3 days.
    • Please adhere to the recommended duration of treatment even if you feel better sooner.

 

  • If you use more than you should
    • When used as directed, no overdoses are known.
    • If the ointment, e.g. B. by children, no serious symptoms of poisoning are to be expected. However, symptoms such as abdominal pain and nausea can occur.
    • Only when very large amounts of lidocaine are taken can clouding of consciousness, shock, cramps and shortness of breath occur. Please inform a doctor in any case.
    • If you have accidentally used the medicine once or several times more often than intended, no increased side effects are to be expected. In this case, reduce the application to the intended dosage.
    • If you have any further questions on the use of the medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

  • The package includes a cannula with side outlet openings, with the help of which the ointment is distributed evenly and in sufficient quantity in the anal canal and adjacent rectal area.

side effects

  • Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
  • The evaluation of side effects is based on the following frequency information:
    • Very common: affects more than 1 in 10 people
    • Common: affects 1 to 10 users in 100
    • Uncommon: affects 1 to 10 users in 1000
    • Rare: affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000
    • Very rare: affects less than 1 in 10,000 people
    • Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data.
  • side effects
    • Very common: itching and burning in the anal area.
    • This may be a hypersensitivity reaction (e.g. contact allergy).
    • If your symptoms worsen during treatment with the drug, stop treatment and consult a doctor.
    • If you notice any side effects that are not listed, tell your doctor or pharmacist.

interactions

  • When using Posterisan acute with lidocaine with other drugs:
    • There are no known interactions with other drugs.

Contraindications

  • The drug must not be used
    • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to lidocaine or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.

pregnancy and breast feeding period

  • Lidocaine, the active ingredient in this drug, should only be used during pregnancy if clearly indicated.
  • A risk to the infant when using the drug while breastfeeding seems unlikely.

patient notes

  • Particular caution is required when using:
    • The use of the drug is intended to relieve pain before a doctor's examination and cannot replace it. Please see your family doctor, a dermatologist experienced in proctology or a proctologist (doctor specializing in rectal medicine) as soon as possible. Under no circumstances should the drug be used for a long period of time.
    • In the case of fungal infestation, the additional use of a locally effective agent against fungal infections is required.

 

  • Driving and using machines
    • The medicine has no effect on the ability to drive and use machines.
