QINEVA ® Curcumin Vegan

Curcumin is the main yellow coloring agent in various types of turmeric, such as Curcuma longa – also known as yellow root or Indian saffron – which is extracted from the rhizomes and used as a powder. The Curcuma longa root is related to ginger and cardamom, among other things, and has its origins in Southeast Asia and India. In addition to being used as a coloring agent in food, turmeric root extract has been used in Ayurvedic nutrition for more than 5,000 years, and as a spice, particularly in India, China and Southeast Asian countries, in the form of the root, as a tea or as a powder. As the main ingredient in curry spice, curcumin is now also widely used in domestic cooking. Curcuminoids have enjoyed increasing scientific interest since the mid-1990s.
