butyzol® Microencapsulated sodium butyrate

Butyrate is the main energy source for the cells of the intestinal wall. In inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and diverticular disease, the ability to produce butyrate is reduced, leading to a butyrate deficiency. At the same time, the cells have an increased need for butyrate due to inflammation.

This butyrate deficiency can limit the functionality of intestinal cells and the intestinal mucosa: intestinal cells cannot develop properly, the intestinal barrier becomes permeable, and protrusions and inflammation develop. This leads to the typical symptoms and flare-ups that severely limit quality of life.
