For the prevention and treatment of flea infestations in dogs and cats, for the treatment of hair lobes (Trichodectes canis) in dogs and for the treatment of flea infestations in ornamental rabbits. The veterinary medicinal product can be used in dogs and cats as part of the treatment strategy for allergic skin inflammation (flea allergy dermatitis, FAD) caused by flea bites. Advantage® for dogs: Within 24 hours of using Advantage®, the fleas on the dog are killed. The single treatment is effective against fleas for 4 weeks.

Advantage® for cats and ornamental rabbits: The fleas on the animal are killed within one day of treatment. The single treatment is effective for 3 to 4 weeks against fleas in cats and up to a week in ornamental rabbits.

Contraindications: Do not use in suckling pups under 8 weeks old. Do not use in rabbits intended for human consumption. Do not use in ornamental rabbits younger than 10 weeks old. Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

Side effects: The veterinary medicinal product tastes bitter. Therefore, licking the application site immediately after the solution is applied can cause salivation. This is not a sign of poisoning and will go away after a few minutes without further treatment (see also section on type and duration of use). In very rare cases, skin reactions such as temporary hair loss, redness, itching and / or an inflammatory reaction at the application site can occur in cats and rabbits. In cats, signs of restlessness, excessive salivation, and nervous symptoms such as incoordination, tremors and fatigue have also been reported in exceptional cases.

Interactions: No signs of clinical intolerance were observed after co-administration of Advantage at twice the therapeutic dose with the following medicinal products used in veterinary medicine: Lufenuron, Pyrantel and Praziquantel (cats). Advantage has also been shown to be compatible with a number of other routine therapies, including vaccinations, under field conditions.
