Composition
Each tablet contains the active substance 324 mg of acetylsalicylic acid and the excipients: anhydrous citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, povidone 25, a mixture of dimethicone and calcium silicate (70% : 30%), a mixture of sodium docusane and sodium benzoate (85% : 15%) , sodium saccharin, lime flavor, lemon flavor.
Action alka seltzer original
Acetylsalicylic acid, the active substance contained in the Alka-Seltzer preparation, has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties. Sodium citrate, formed after dissolving the tablet in water, has buffering properties, thanks to which it neutralizes excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
Indications
The preparation is used in pain of light and medium intensity, e.g. headache, muscle pain (including a feeling of general breakdown), toothache. Pain and fever in the course of colds and flu.
Dosage alka seltzer original
Adults - dissolve 1 to 3 tablets in water and drink the effervescent liquid. Children over 12 years of age - in case of flu and colds, consult a doctor before administering the drug. Take 1 effervescent tablet at a time (324 mg of acetylsalicylic acid). If necessary, a single dose may be repeated up to 3 times a day every 4-8 hours. The maximum daily dose is 3 effervescent tablets. The drug should not be used for more than 3-5 days without consulting a doctor.
Contraindications
Do not use:
* in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance - acetylsalicylic acid, other salicylates or any component of the drug,
* in patients with bleeding diathesis, *
in gastric or duodenal ulcer,
* in patients with severe renal failure, * in
patients with severe liver failure ,
* in patients with severe heart failure
* in the last trimester of pregnancy
* if you have had bronchial asthma attacks in the past, caused by the administration of salicylates or substances with a similar effect, especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
* in combination with methotrexate in doses of 15 mg per week or more
* in viral diseases (especially influenza and chicken pox) in children up to 12 years.
Undesirable effects
Rarely, gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting and minor bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract occur, which in exceptional cases may lead to anemia. Occasionally, peptic ulcers may develop with bleeding and perforation. If black, tarry stools occur, the drug should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions occur (in the form of, for example, shortness of breath or skin reactions). in the blood and skin reactions that are particularly severe. Dizziness and tinnitus, especially in children and the elderly, may be symptoms of overdose.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Acetylsalicylic acid can be used in the 1st and 2nd trimester of pregnancy only after considering the risk-benefit ratio, only on the advice of a doctor. The preparation should not be used in the last trimester of pregnancy, as it may cause fetal defects and complications during childbirth. Acetylsalicylic acid penetrates into breast milk in small amounts, therefore - if possible - the use of the preparation should be avoided during breastfeeding.
