Cancer cells, regardless of the type of cancer, are known as trophoblasts. These cells contain the enzyme beta-glucosidase, which is the triggering enzyme. When B17 comes in contact with the enzyme beta-glucosidase, B17 breaks down into 2 molecules of glucose, one molecule of benzaldehyde and one molecule of hydrogen cyanide. (see diagram). In the body, only cancer cells contain this enzyme in extremely large quantities. The key fact is that hydrogen cyanide must be formed, it does not exist in the free state in B17, but must be produced. Only the enzyme beta-glucosidase is capable of producing hydrogen cyanide from B17. If there are no cancer cells in the body, there is no beta-glucosidase.
Normal cells in the body contain the enzyme rhodanase, which neutralizes amygdalin B17. This enzyme does not allow B17 to release cyanide, but only serves as energy for healthy cells. In the absence of rhodanase, amygdalin B 17 is activated and releases highly toxic cyanide and benzaldehyde inside the cancer cell, leading to its destruction. In this way, only cancer cells die, and normal ones are not affected.
