Benzaknen® 5% gel for the treatment of mild to moderate acne
Effectively combat pimples and blackheads in acne: Benzaknen® 5% gel is applied to the affected areas of the face, penetrates deep into the pores and kills 94% of all acne bacteria. For typical acne complaints such as pimples, blackheads and inflammatory lesions, Benzaknen Gel 5% provides relief and ensures a visibly better skin appearance after just 1 to 2 weeks - without any habituation effect.

With BPO against acne: This is how Benzaknen® 5% gel works.
Acne is triggered, among other things, by acne bacteria. However, soap and water are usually not enough to kill acne-causing bacteria. Anyone who particularly struggles with acne on their face needs a more effective form of treatment. An effective remedy against acne is the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide (BPO) contained in Benzaknen® 5% gel:

• BPO eliminates 94% of all acne bacteria (C. acnes) and is therefore an effective weapon in the fight against pimples and blackheads.
• Thanks to its lipophilic properties, benzoyl peroxide penetrates the clogged pores and develops its effect there.
• Dead cells from the horny layer are loosened, the clogged pores are opened and the excess sebum can flow away.
• The skin's appearance improves and the risk of inflammation and skin irritation is reduced.
• In contrast to treatment with antibiotics, no bacterial resistance occurs with products containing the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide. Even after several weeks, Benzaknen® still works like it did on the first day.

Use of Benzaknen® for impure skin and acne
It is best to cleanse your skin with a cleansing gel before use, such as the deep cleansing gel from BenzacareTM. Then dry your skin well and apply a thin layer of Benzaknen® 5% gel to the affected skin areas. For optimal treatment of acne, the gel should be used once or twice a day.

Application tip: Care routine for clear skin
When treating acne, cleansing and care can improve the results of the therapy. To accompany the therapy with Benzaknen®, there is the appropriate cleansing and moisturizing care from the BenzacareTM product family. Follow the following 3 steps:

• Step 1: Cleanse the skin carefully - ideally with a mild, pH-neutral washing substance such as the deep-acting BenzacareTM cleansing gel. Then gently pat the skin dry with a clean towel.

• Step 2: Then apply Benzaknen® 5% gel or 10% gel thinly to the affected skin areas - for example on pimples or blackheads. Do not bring the anti-pimple gel into contact with eyes, nose and mouth mucous membranes.

• Step 3: Allow gel to dry and then apply a gentle, non-greasy moisturizer (e.g. BenzacareTM Moisturizer or BenzacareTM Microbiome Equalizer).

Duration of application
After 14 days at the latest, acne therapy with Benzaknen® 5% gel should show visible success. The number of pimples or blackheads or skin irritations should have noticeably reduced. If the desired effect has not yet occurred, be patient. The average duration of use is 4-12 weeks. If the Benzaknen® 5% gel does not achieve the desired effect, you can still try the 10% gel.

Notes on use: Avoid drying out the skin!
Initially, therapy with benzoyl peroxide can cause skin irritation. These side effects are completely normal and usually subside after a few days. However, Benzaknen® 5% Gel can cause the skin to dry out more quickly. Therefore, use should always be accompanied by a soothing, non-comedogenic moisturizer (e.g. from BenzacareTM). If success is evident, acne treatment can be continued over a longer period of time. If the skin continues to be irritated, ask your doctor or pharmacy for advice about continuing to use benzaknes.

Tip: It is best to use white towels and bed linen when treating with benzoyl peroxide, as BPO can bleach textiles.

For the development of acne and pimples
In addition to blackheads, acne is usually also characterized by chronic, inflammatory skin conditions such as pustules and papules. They mainly appear where there is a particularly large concentration of sebaceous glands - on the face, back, chest or shoulder area. If blackheads form, the sebum cannot drain away properly and acne bacteria (C. acnes) multiply, promote inflammation and pimples appear. Acne is particularly common in teenagers because during puberty the release of sex hormones is increased, which in turn causes greater production of sebum.
