What is Calcet® 950 mg and what is it used for?
Calcet® 950 mg binds phosphate from food and enables it to be excreted in the stool.

Calcet® 950 mg is used to lower elevated phosphate levels in the blood and in chronic kidney failure with indicated dialysis.

What is Calcet® 950 mg and what is it used for?
Always take Calcet® 950 mg exactly as your doctor has told you. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:

Adults at breakfast: ½-1 film-coated tablet.

With a snack: ½-1 film-coated tablet.

With the main meal: 1-3 film-coated tablets.

For dinner: 1-2 film-coated tablets.

The dosage varies from patient to patient. Since Calcet® 950 mg binds the phosphate from the food, the number of film-coated tablets must be adjusted according to the amount of food ingested (portion size) and thus the ingested phosphate content.

(E.g. 2 film-coated tablets for breakfast with only one piece of bread and jam would lead to an excess of calcium and thus to a risk of increasing the calcium level in the blood.)

On the other hand, just 1 film-coated tablet with a hearty lunchtime meal may not be enough to bind the larger amount of phosphate in the main meal (i.e. not sufficiently effective).

Calcet® 950 mg should be taken during or immediately after a meal.

The tablets must be swallowed whole and with some liquid.

Please follow the instructions for use, otherwise Calcet® 950 mg cannot work as expected!
