Is chickpea flour gluten free?
Yes, gram flour is gluten-free. Gram flour, also called besan, garbanzo flour, or chickpea flour, is made from ground chickpeas, which are naturally gluten-free.
Our gluten-free, unroasted, light yellow DEMETER chickpea flour is a mono product and is extra finely and gently ground with the centrofan mill. Chickpea flour is suitable, among other things, for mezze specialties and oriental dishes such as hummus and falafel, for baking or for fried dough such as tempura and pakora. As part of an innovative kitchen practice, however, you can also thicken soups or use the chickpea flour in desserts or for pancakes. Make sure that all uses of the flour are always well cooked, as it should not be eaten raw.
We get our biodynamically grown, nutty, sweet-tasting chickpeas from our cooperation partner, the sunny Sekem project in Egypt.
