CHLORHEXIDINE DIGLUCONATE Indication / application
- The preparation belongs to the group of oral cavities - antiseptics.

The medicine is used:
- For a temporary reduction in the number of germs in the mouth.
- To support the healing phase after periodontal surgery.
- As a temporary supportive therapy for mechanical cleaning in bacterial inflammation of the gums (gingivitis) and oral mucosa.
- With limited oral hygiene.
CHLORHEXIDINE DIGLUCONATE dosage
- Always use the preparation exactly as directed. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is:
- Rinse 3 times a day after meals and brushing your teeth with 1 tablespoon of the solution for 1 minute each time.
- The solution should not be swallowed, but accidental ingestion is not harmful.

How long should you use the medicine?
- The concentrate should not be used for more than 2 weeks without interruption without medical or dental advice.
- Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

- After meals and brushing your teeth and before using the solution, the oral cavity must be rinsed out thoroughly with water (see category "Interactions").

CHLORHEXIDINE DIGLUCONATE Side effects
- Like all medicines, this can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The assessment of side effects is based on the following frequencies:
- Very common: affects more than 1 in 10 people
- Common: affects 1 to 10 users in 100
- Uncommon: affects 1 to 10 users in 1,000
- Rare: affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000
- Very rare: less than 1 user in 10,000
- Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data
- In rare cases, increased tartar formation can occur.
- In rare cases, immediate allergic reactions, contact allergies and urticaria occur. In individual cases, hypersensitivity reactions, including severe ones, including anaphylaxis, have been described after the local application of chlorhexidine-containing mouthwashes.
- Wound healing disorders are possible. The frequency is indefinite.
- In individual cases there may be temporary weeping desquamation of the oral mucosa (reversible desquamative changes in the mucosa).
- In individual cases, irritations of the oral mucosa can occur.
- In rare cases, regular use can lead to bleeding gums after brushing your teeth.
- Reversible changes in hard tooth tissue, restorations (these include fillings, crowns, bridges) and papillae of the tongue (hairy tongue). The teeth may be discolored brown. The frequency is indefinite.
- An impairment of taste perception as well as numbness of the tongue can occur, which usually disappears again for a short time. These side effects go away on their own when the drug is stopped.
- If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not specified.

When used with other drugs
- The drug's effect is impaired by anionic substances, which are usually a component of conventional toothpastes. Therefore, do not use them at the same time, but rather before treatment with the medicine and rinse the oral cavity thoroughly with water between brushing your teeth and using the preparation.
- Immediately after using the drug, food and drinks containing sugar should not be consumed, as this will impair the effect of the drug.
- Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using or have recently taken / used any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Contraindications

The drug must not be used
- if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.
- with changes in the oral mucosa caused by weeping peeling (erosive-desquamative changes).
- for wounds and ulcers of the oral mucosa (ulcerations).
- with poorly perfused tissue.
CHLORHEXIDINE DIGLUCONATE pregnancy and breast feeding period
- There are insufficient experiences or studies on the safety of the use of chlorhexidine, the active ingredient of the preparation, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Therefore, the drug should only be used with special caution.
