Chromium is an essential trace element. Meat products, especially offal and muscle meat, as well as brewer's yeast, nuts and whole grain products, especially oatmeal, contain chromium. With increasing age, both the absorption capacity and the storage capacity of chromium decrease. The trace element is a cofactor of some enzymes and involved in carbohydrate and fat metabolism.
