Carnitine is not a real amino acid, but a compound of the two amino acids, methionine and lysine. The body can synthesize this substance itself in the liver.

What is L-carnitine?

L-carnitine is a vitamin-like and conditionally essential nutrient and an important component of our daily diet. The human body contains around 20 - 25 g of L-carnitine. The heart, muscles, liver and our immune cells contain a lot of it.

History of L-Carnitine

L-carnitine was discovered in 1905 as an important component of muscles and was therefore given the name carnitine from the Latin "carnis" (meat). In 1955, its essential function in the transport of fatty acids was discovered. In 1973, the first cases of congenital primary L-carnitine deficiency were diagnosed. L-carnitine has been used in human and animal nutrition since the late 1970s. Since its discovery, a large number of scientific studies have been published on the subject, and new ones are added every year.

L-carnitine in food

L-carnitine is mainly found in meat and dairy products. Plant products contain almost no L-carnitine. If you have a very meat-rich diet, you can consume up to 2 g with food. A vegetarian diet leads to a reduction in the L-carnitine content in the body.

Endogenous L-carnitine biosynthesis and requirements

Our body can produce small amounts of L-carnitine itself. To do this, the organism needs the essential amino acids lysine and methionine, vitamins C, B3, B6, B12 & folic acid, and iron. However, most of the daily requirement is obtained through food.

pregnancy and breastfeeding

The need for L-carnitine is greatly increased during pregnancy and breastfeeding. During breastfeeding, the mother passes a lot of L-carnitine to the newborn via breast milk. L-carnitine is an important component of breast milk. Milk-free soy-based infant formula does not contain L-carnitine and the additive is required by law. This is why it has been used in infant formula for years. The body's own L-carnitine production is not fully developed until the age of 15.

L-carnitine is a nutrient that is found in the body and in food. L-carnitine has been proven worldwide for over 30 years.

Each capsule L-Carnitine, 500 mg contains:
L-Carnitine (L-Carnitine L-Tartrate) 500 mg

Recommended dosage for adults:

1 can of L-Carnitine, 500 mg contains: 60 capsules

Experts around the world have tried to find out why certain people have more "life energy" than others. They remain active into old age, are employed and have an active social and love life.

Is there a special fuel found in the cells of these people?

Scientists have discovered "missing nutrients" in our bodies and shown how our bodies react to them. We now know, for example, that one of these "missing nutrients" is a substance called coenzyme Q10.

Coenzyme Q10 was thoroughly researched by the Texan scientist K. Folkers back in the 1950s.
Informative publications and books, such as "Heart Miracle Coenzyme Q10" by Emile G. Bliznakov, continue to contribute to our understanding.
Coenzyme Q10 is found in many foods, such as nuts, selected vegetables, meat and fish. However, it is only found in small quantities and it is not easy to obtain it through food, as preservatives impair the content.

SunSplash offers coenzyme Q10 as a monopreparation in two dosages:

  • Co-Q10 120 mg
  • Q10 200 mg

Each Co-Q10 120 mg softgel capsule contains:

Coenzyme Q10 120 mg

Recommended dosage for adults:
1 capsule daily

1 can of Co-Q10, 120 mg contains:
60 softgel capsules
