CUTIMED Gelling Fiber Tampone 2x45 cm hydrofibre
Gel-forming hydrofibre bandage with reinforcing fibers as a tamponade for wound cavities and pockets.
Moist, gel-forming fiber bandage for effective exudate management
CUTIMED Gelling Fiber Tampone 2x45 cm hydrofibre
Cutimed® Gelling Fiber is a soft, hydrophilic, sterile, non-woven gelling dressing or packing composed of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and reinforced fibers.
Cutimed® Gelling Fiber is an adaptable and highly absorbent wound dressing. Cutimed® Gelling Fiber absorbs wound exudate and forms a soft gel that keeps the wound moist and
supports wound healing. Cutimed® Gelling Fiber facilitates the removal of dead tissue from the wound (autolytic debridement) without damaging the newly formed tissue.
- Leg ulcers, pressure sores (grade II-IV) and diabetic ulcers
- Surgical wounds (e.g. postoperative wounds with secondary wound healing and split skin donor sites)
- Second degree burns
- Exudate uptake in oncological wounds
- Traumatic wounds (e.g. abrasions and lacerations)
Application CUTIMED Gelling Fiber Tampone 2x45 cm hydrofibre:
Exuding wounds (except second degree burns)
- Select the appropriate size and trim the dressings if necessary: Cutimed® Gelling Fiber should overlap the wound edges by 1 cm as the dressing shrinks as it absorbs exudate. (B1)
- Place Cutimed® Gelling Fiber directly on the wound and cover with a moisture retaining dressing (e.g. Cutimed® Siltec®, Cutimed® Sorbion® or other suitable secondary dressing) (C).
- All wounds must be inspected regularly. Remove Cutimed® Gelling Fiber when clinically indicated (ie, excessive bleeding, leakage of exudate, or suspected infection).
Dry wounds
- Select the appropriate size and trim the dressings if necessary: Cutimed® Gelling Fiber should overlap the wound edges by 1 cm as the dressing shrinks as it absorbs liquid. (B1) • Apply Cutimed® Gelling Fiber to the wound and wet the wound area with saline solution.
- Cover Cutimed® Gelling Fiber with a moisture-retaining bandage, e.g. B. Cutimed® Siltec® L (C), to prevent drying out and subsequent adhesion of the dressing to the wound.
-
All wounds must be inspected regularly. Remove Cutimed® Gelling Fiber when clinically indicated (ie, excessive bleeding, leakage of exudate, or suspected infection).
Deep wounds and cavities
- Thoroughly dry the surrounding skin.
- Place Cutimed® Gelling Fiber Tamponade or wound dressing loosely in the wound so that the wound dressing can swell. Cut the Cutimed® Gelling Fiber Tamponade to the appropriate length, leaving a small overhang of 2-3 cm outside the wound for easy removal of the tamponade (B2).
- Cover the tamponade with a moisture-retaining bandage, e.g. B. Cutimed® Siltec® or another suitable secondary dressing, from (C).
Second degree burns and split skin donor sites
- Choose the right size. For larger wound areas, several Cutimed® Gelling Fiber wound dressings can be combined. Cutimed® Gelling Fiber should overlap the wound edges or other adjacent Cutimed® Gelling Fiber by at least 5 cm, since the wound dressing shrinks as it absorbs the exudate. (B1)
- Cutimed® Gelling Fiber should be covered with a sterile, loosely woven gauze pad and appropriately fixed (C). During the post-burn period (up to 4 days) there may be increased discharge of exudate, which requires the Cutimed® Gelling Fiber to be changed more frequently.
- Periodically remove the gauze pad and inspect Cutimed® Gelling Fiber without removing it from the burn wound • Adhesion of Cutimed® Gelling Fiber to the wound bed is a desired effect. A lack of adhesion of parts of the dressing indicates a deeper wound bed or infection. Portions of the dressing may be cut off to allow wound assessment. The exposed areas should then be treated accordingly.
- After re-epithelialization of the burn wound, Cutimed® Gelling Fiber dissolves on its own or can be removed without any problems.
