The active substances are: cetylpyridinium chloride, lidocaine hydrochloride and zinc gluconate. Cetylpyridinium chloride has a disinfecting, bactericidal and antifungal effect. Lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate is a local anesthetic and therefore relieves pain. Zinc gluconate supports the immune system.
The medicinal product Dezaftan Med is indicated for use in the treatment of inflammation of the mouth, gingivitis, infections and ulcers of the oral mucosa (thrush, aphthae) - including those caused by wearing a dental prosthesis or orthodontic appliances. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult your doctor, but it is not recommended to use the drug in pregnant women and in women of childbearing age who do not use effective contraception. Should not be used in mothers who are breastfeeding. Lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate may impair swallowing and increase the risk of aspiration. Due to the risk of aspiration, do not use the drug with a meal and immediately before eating. Caution should be exercised when drinking hot drinks and eating hot food as the drug reduces heat sensitivity, so there is an increased risk of burns to the mucosa of the mouth and throat. In use, dairy products should not be eaten, they reduce the absorption of zinc. The drug contains aspartame (4.8 mg in each tablet) - aspartame is a source of phenylalanine, it may be harmful for patients with phenylketonuria. The drug contains mannitol - a slight laxative effect may occur. This medicine contains sodium (2.712 mg per tablet), the medicine contains less than 1mmol (23 mg) of sodium per tablet, therefore it is essentially 'sodium-free'.
