Elmex gel is a medicinal product containing aminofluorides. The preparation is intended for use as part of intensive caries prophylaxis. It shows remineralizing and strengthening enamel. It is helpful in tooth sensitivity.

Composition of Elmex gel:

Active substances in 1g of gel: a total of 12.5mg of fluorine (30.32mg of Olaflur aminofluoride, 2.87mg of Dectaflur aminofluoride and 22.1mg of sodium fluoride) and excipients: propylene glycol, hydroxyethyl cellulose, saccharin, banana flavor, apple flavor, menthol flavor, peppermint aroma, garden mint aroma and purified water. 1cm Elmex gel (approximately 0.5g gel) corresponds to 6.25mg of fluoride.

Elmex gel action:

The preparation has the following properties - it fluoresces, remineralizes and permanently strengthens the enamel. The medicinal product Elmex gel contains amino fluorides, it is recommended primarily for intensive caries prophylaxis. In addition, the use of Elmex gel is recommended for the treatment of early caries, as well as for the treatment of hypersensitivity of the necks.

Application:
The medicinal product Elmex gel indicated for prophylactic use in intensive caries prophylaxis especially in children, adolescents and in the case of increased risk of caries development (people wearing orthodontic appliances, bridges, partial dentures), as well as therapeutically to remineralize early caries and to relieving tooth neck hypersensitivity.

Additional information:
Store out of reach of children at room temperature. It is recommended to protect against moisture and light. This medicine contains propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation. The possibility of using the product for pregnant women and nursing mothers should consult a doctor. One package is enough for about 40 brushes.

Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Do not use in the case of pathological exfoliative lesions of the oral mucosa. Do not use in people with bone and / or enamel fluorosis. Do not use in people who do not control the swallowing reflex (e.g. children under 6 years of age, people with disabilities).

Side effects:
When using the gel, the following side effects may occur: gastrointestinal disorders - very rare: peeling of the oral mucosa, superficial erosions of the oral mucosa or sores in the mouth (ulcers, wounds, blisters); frequency not known - oral mucosa irritation (inflammation or redness of the oral mucosa, discomfort or burning in the mouth, numbness, swelling or swelling, inflammation, itching of the mouth, changes in sense of taste, dry mouth, gingivitis) nausea or vomiting; immune disorders - very rare: hypersensitivity (allergic reactions).

Dosage of Elmex gel:

Use as directed by your doctor or as directed on the leaflet. Before use, it is recommended to read the enclosed leaflet carefully. Use at home: for the prevention and treatment of early caries in children over 6 years of age and adults: apply once a week, it is recommended to use before bedtime. Apply 1cm of gel on the brush (about 0.5g, i.e. 6.25mg fluoride), brush your teeth for 2-3 minutes. Spit out and rinse your mouth. For children between 6 and 8 years of age, Elmex gel should only be used under adult supervision, making sure that they do not swallow the gel; for the treatment of tooth neck hypersensitivity: apply the gel gently to aching areas using a finger or a soft brush. With a higher risk of caries and in the treatment of hypersensitivity of the necks of the teeth, the frequency of application can be increased. It should be remembered that the total contact time of the preparation with the oral mucosa (brushing and remaining in the mouth) should not exceed 5 minutes. Use in a dental office: the gel can be administered using special individual plastic splints and application spoons, possibly using a blunt needle from a filled disposable syringe directly onto the chewing surfaces and interdental spaces. Gel contact time: 2-4 minutes, no more than 5 minutes. After the procedure, it is necessary to rinse the mouth with water. It is recommended to use this type of treatment about 2 times a year, and more often for people who are particularly exposed to caries. It is recommended to apply the gel using spoons above 8 years of age. In the absence of improvement or worsening of symptoms, it is recommended to consult a doctor.
