Fenugreek is rich in steroidal saponins, derivatives of the aglycones gitigenin, yamogenin, diosgenin and tigogenin. It also contains lecithin, phytin, trogonelline and choline. Fenugreek seeds have been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times. Fenugreek has a strong antiseptic effect and relieves symptoms caused by cold weather.
