Folio® contains four important ingredients: folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin D3 and iodine.

With 400 micrograms of folic acid, Folio® supplies the ideal amount of folic acid from the 13th week of pregnancy until the end of breastfeeding if Folio®forte (containing 800 micrograms of folic acid) has been used beforehand. You need the vitamin in particular, as it plays an essential role in all cell division and cell growth processes.

Folio® tablets combine folic acid with 10 micrograms of vitamin B12. There is a very specific reason for this: folic acid can only develop its full effect in the presence of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is therefore also known as the “helper vitamin” of folic acid.

Vitamin D3 is important for building up your child's skeletal and immune systems. A good supply of this vitamin also helps reduce the risks of certain pregnancy complications.

Note for vegans: Vitamin D3 is obtained from sheep's wool and then purified to such an extent that the tablets no longer contain any animal components.

Last but not least, Folio® contains 150 micrograms of iodine - an important mineral for the functioning of the thyroid hormones. These hormones control the physical maturation and development of the organs, the nervous system, the brain, the muscles and the skeletal system. They also make a significant contribution to the development of intelligence.

If you are not allowed to take in additional iodine for medical reasons, but do not want to forego a sufficiently high intake of folic acid, Folio®iodine-free is suitable for you.

By the way: athletes and women who have an increased need for folic acid due to the use of hormonal contraceptives such as the "pill" (folic acid robbers!) Can secure their supply of folic acid with Folio®.

Because of their increased basal metabolic rate and increased sweat production, athletes also have an additional need for iodine!
