For the symptomatic treatment of organic brain performance disorders as part of an overall therapeutic concept in the case of a decrease or loss of acquired intellectual abilities (dementia syndrome) with the main complaints: memory disorders, concentration disorders, depressive moods, dizziness, ringing in the ears, headaches. The individual response to the medication cannot be predicted. Before treatment with Ginkgo-Maren ® is started, it should be clarified whether the symptoms are not based on an underlying disease to be specifically treated.

Indication / Ginkgo biloba leaves application

  • The medicine contains an extract from ginkgo leaves.
  • The medicine is used:
    • For the symptomatic treatment of organ-organically induced performance disorders as part of an overall therapeutic concept in the event of a decrease or loss of acquired intellectual abilities (dementia syndrome) with the main complaints: memory disorders, concentration disorders, depressive moods, dizziness, ringing in the ears, headaches.
  • The individual response to the medication cannot be predicted.
  • Before starting treatment with this medicinal product, it should be clarified whether the symptoms are not due to an underlying disease that is specifically to be treated.
  • Frequently occurring dizziness and ringing in the ears generally need to be clarified by a doctor.
  • In the event of sudden hearing loss or hearing loss, a doctor should be consulted immediately.

Ginkgo biloba leaves dosage

  • Always take this medicine exactly as described or as your doctor or pharmacist has discussed. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is
    • Adults aged 18 and over should take ½ - 1 tablet twice a day (equivalent to 120 - 240 mg ginkgo extract per day).
    • It is taken twice a day in the morning and in the evening.
    • Use in children and adolescents
      • The medicine is not intended for use in anyone under the age of 18.

 

  • Duration of application
    • In the case of organic brain performance disorders, the duration of treatment should be at least 8 weeks.
    • After 3 months of treatment, the doctor must check whether the continuation of the treatment is still justified.
    • Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak.

 

  • If you take more medicine than you should
    • The side effects listed below may become worse if you take more of the medicine. Please notify your doctor. This can decide on any necessary measures.

 

  • If you forget to take the medicine
    • Next time do not take about double the amount, but continue taking as prescribed by your doctor or as described here.

 

  • If you stop taking the medicine
    • If the treatment is interrupted or ended prematurely, your symptoms may worsen or recur.

  • Do not take the tablets lying down.
  • Please swallow the tablets whole with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of drinking water). It can be taken independently of meals.

  • Like all medicines, this medicine can have side effects, although not everybody gets them.
  • The list includes all known side effects under treatment with ginkgo leaf dry extract, including those under higher doses or long-term therapy.
    • The frequency of side effects is based on the following categories:

      • Common: affects 1 to 10 users in 100
      • Uncommon: affects 1 to 10 users in 1,000
      • Rare: affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000
      • Very rare: less than 1 user in 10,000
      • Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data

      • No reliable information can be given on the frequency of side effects known from taking Ginkgo biloba-containing medicines, as these side effects have become known through individual reports from patients, doctors or pharmacists. After that, you may experience the following side effects while taking this medicine:
        • Bleeding from individual organs can occur, especially if anticoagulant drugs such as phenprocoumon, acetylsalicylic acid or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are taken at the same time. Serious hypersensitivity reactions (allergic shock) can occur in hypersensitive people; in addition, allergic skin reactions (reddening of the skin, swelling of the skin, itching) can occur.
        • If you are affected by any of the above side effects, do not take the medicine again and contact your doctor immediately so that he can decide on the severity and any necessary measures.
        • Furthermore, there may be slight gastrointestinal complaints, headaches, dizziness or aggravation of existing dizziness symptoms.
    • If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to side effects that are not listed here.

Ginkgo biloba leaves Interactions

  • Taking the medicine with other medicines
    • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking / using, have recently taken / used, or may take / use any other medicines.
    • If this drug is taken at the same time as anti-coagulant drugs (such as phenprocoumon, warfarin, clopidogrel, acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), the increase in the effects of these drugs cannot be ruled out.
    • As for all medicinal products, an influence on the metabolism of various other medicinal products cannot be ruled out, which could influence the strength and / or duration of the effect of the medicinal products concerned. There are no sufficient studies on this. Please therefore consult your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Taking the medicine with food and drink
    • It is not known that the medicinal product is influenced by luxury foods, food or drinks.

  • Do not take the medicine
    • if you are allergic to ginkgo biloba or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
    • during pregnancy.

  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
    • Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking / using any medicine.
    • Since there are individual indications that preparations containing ginkgo could increase the willingness to bleed, this medicinal product must not be taken during pregnancy.
    • This medicine should not be used during breastfeeding as insufficient studies are available. It is not known whether the ingredients in the extract pass into breast milk.

    • Children and adolescents
      • There are insufficient studies on the use of this drug in this age group. It should therefore not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
    • What else do you need to look out for?
      • In the event of an abnormally increased tendency to bleed (haemorrhagic diathesis) as well as simultaneous treatment with anti-coagulant drugs, this drug should only be used after consulting a doctor.
      • Since there are indications that preparations containing ginkgo can increase the willingness to bleed, this medicinal product must be discontinued before an operation. Please inform your doctor in good time when you have taken the medicine so that he can decide how to proceed.
      • If you are known to have seizures (epilepsy), please consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

 

  • Driving and using machines
